Today, January 15th, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for key infrastructure and transportation projects, marking the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The event celebrated the commencement of the Phu My 2 Bridge and Can Gio Bridge construction projects.
Both the Phu My 2 Bridge and Can Gio Bridge projects have been approved by the City People’s Council under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, specifically a Build-Transfer (BT) contract. Masterise Group, in collaboration with reputable contractors, will spearhead the development. The projects are slated to run from 2025 to 2029, with construction expected to take place between 2026 and 2029.
The Phu My 2 Bridge will span approximately 6.3 kilometers, featuring an 8-lane design, with a total investment of around VND 23,186 billion. The bridge will connect Nguyen Huu Tho Street in the southern part of Ho Chi Minh City to Dai Phuoc Commune in Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province, directly linking to the Long Thanh International Airport.

Upon completion, the bridge will significantly reduce traffic congestion on the existing Phu My Bridge, National Highway 1, National Highway 51, and the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway. It will also establish a new inter-regional transportation axis, shorten travel times, lower logistics costs, and promote sustainable urban and industrial development in the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City and the Bien Hoa – Dong Nai region.
A standout feature of the Phu My 2 Bridge is its multi-tiered design. The 6.3-kilometer structure includes an underground road layer combined with two elevated viaducts. This innovative approach maximizes urban land use in densely built areas, enhancing traffic flow without significantly expanding the ground footprint. This model has proven successful in major cities worldwide and is being implemented in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time.

This project holds strategic importance, replacing the Binh Khanh ferry and breaking the monopoly of waterway transportation. It opens up new development opportunities toward the Southeast, completing the southern transportation network of the city.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Landed Property Prices Plummet by Nearly Half as Developers Ramp Up Discounts
JLL reports that the primary market price for landed homes stands at $8,033 per square meter (over 211 million VND per square meter), reflecting a sharp decline of 48.5% quarter-on-quarter and 52.6% year-on-year. This significant drop is primarily attributed to the introduction of competitively priced units from the Vinhomes Green Paradise project in Can Gio.
