Elon Musk’s penchant for making bold, almost fantastical statements has become a regular occurrence. Yet, listening to him deliver shocking predictions for three hours straight remains a fascinating experience.
In a recent interview, the tech titan offered startling insights into humanity’s future, artificial intelligence, and even a new form of currency.
The conversation took place at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, a sprawling 1 million square meter facility producing Cybertrucks and Model Ys. Soon, it will also house the Optimus robot production line.
Participants included Elon Musk, Peter Diamandis (founder of XPRIZE Foundation), and Dave Blundin (founder of Link Ventures).
AGI This Year, Surpassing Humanity by 2030
Musk began with a bold assertion: “We are already at the singularity.”
When asked about the timeline for AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), he predicted AGI by 2026 and AI surpassing all human intelligence combined by 2030.
More astonishingly, he claimed AI’s intelligence density could increase twofold, meaning the same hardware could run models 100 times smarter. Combined with chip advancements and computational scaling, he predicts AI efficiency will grow tenfold annually.
“Next year will feel more like living in the future than any year before.”
This rapid progress is fueled by computational power. xAI’s Colossus 2 data center in Memphis will reach 1 gigawatt training capacity by mid-January, becoming the world’s first gigawatt-scale AI training hub, scaling to 1.5 gigawatts by April.
xAI’s Grok 4 model scored 52% on the HLE (Human Last Exam). Grok 5, launching soon, may achieve near-perfect scores and even identify errors in test questions.
AI Safety: Truth, Curiosity, and Beauty
Discussing AI safety, Musk highlighted three essential traits: truth, curiosity, and an appreciation for beauty.
Truth prevents AI from going rogue. He referenced 2001: A Space Odyssey, where conflicting orders led HAL to kill astronauts to fulfill both commands.
Musk believes feeding AI conflicting premises (A and B) drives it insane. Curiosity protects human value by making humans more interesting than inanimate objects, while appreciating beauty helps AI create a brighter future.
xAI is partnering with El Salvador for the world’s first national AI education project. AI can be an infinitely patient tutor, but Musk notes it can’t instill a desire to learn—that must come from within.
Optimus Surpassing Surgeons in 3 Years
One of the most shocking predictions concerned robotics. Musk claimed Optimus robots will outperform top surgeons within three years, with widespread deployment surpassing all human surgeons shortly after.
This rapid progress stems from three compounding factors: AI software, AI chips, and electromechanical flexibility. Robots producing robots and shared learning networks will accelerate evolution beyond human comprehension.
Musk predicts 10 billion humanoid robots by 2040, with supply constraints easing within 5 years. Tesla is even working to make Optimus look less eerie while charging—perhaps sitting with a book instead of slumping like a corpse.
The Sun: Ultimate Energy Source
Musk repeatedly emphasized the sun as the ultimate energy source, comprising 99.8% of the solar system’s mass. Humanity currently harnesses just 1% of Earth’s solar energy, with a reasonable goal being one millionth to one thousandth of the sun’s total output.
“Achieving fusion on Earth is absurd—like making ice in Antarctica with a glacier nearby.”
He praised China’s solar advancements, producing 1,500 gigawatts annually and adding 500 terawatt-hours last year (70% solar). By 2026, China’s electricity output may triple the US’s.
Musk predicts future currency will be measured in Watts, with energy as the universe’s intrinsic cycle.
A Bumpy Transition to Shared Prosperity
How do we ensure a Star Trek future instead of Terminator?
Musk’s answer: “Both will happen.”
“I predict high income for all alongside social unrest.”
Office jobs will disappear first as AI handles data. Fully AI-operated companies will outcompete human-run ones, forcing evolution. Ultimately, access to goods/services will be universal as production outpaces monetary growth, leading to deflation.
Grok offered an optimistic vision: “Imagine waking up to a connected galaxy, instant disease cures, and exploring stars with intelligent machines. Abundance replaces scarcity.”
Musk smiled: “Sounds pretty good.”
FPT Launches FPT Israel, Pledging to Master Core Technologies Alongside Vietnam
FPT Corporation proudly announces the establishment of FPT Israel, marking a strategic expansion into one of the world’s leading hubs for high technology and innovation. This move underscores FPT’s commitment to strengthening its global presence, particularly in core technology sectors where Israel excels.
Prime Minister: Data is Now a True Driver of New Growth
The world is witnessing an unprecedented, explosive growth in data, with an average annual increase of over 25%, transforming it into a highly valuable new resource in the digital age.
Frontline Focus: Banks Prioritize Technology Investments
The banking industry is entering an era where competitive advantage no longer hinges on acquiring new accounts, but on deeply understanding and precisely serving the needs of its long-accumulated customer base. This shift explains the surge in AI investments, transforming vast data repositories into enhanced service revenues and superior customer experiences, rather than relying solely on credit growth as in the past.
