Gold prices climbed as well, fueled by anticipations of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts. A weaker U.S. dollar propelled copper prices upward. Chinese steel prices, however, hit a three-month low due to lackluster demand from the construction sector. Wheat and soybean prices plunged to their lowest levels in four years, attributed to the promising outlook for U.S. crops. Meanwhile, Robusta coffee prices soared to record highs, while Arabica coffee prices retreated from their highest levels in two and a half years. Japanese rubber prices rose as a result of a weaker Japanese yen.
