After lingering at record lows for an extended period, the financial markets are witnessing a fierce interest rate battle as the year draws to a close. Not only private banks but also the "Big 4" institutions have joined the fray, prompting a significant shift in idle cash held by residents.

According to An Binh Securities Research Center (ABS Research), the VN-Index in 2026 is projected to surpass its 2025 peak. This upward valuation is driven by improved corporate earnings and market liquidity, supported by sustained low interest rates and the return of foreign capital following Vietnam’s upgrade to Emerging Market status by FTSE.

The VN-Index has plunged further, breaching the Middle line of the Bollinger Bands. Meanwhile, the HNX-Index extended its losing streak to a fourth consecutive session, as both the MACD and Stochastic Oscillator indicators signaled renewed selling pressure.
