Multinational Corporation to Invest $10 Billion in Vietnam for Thermal Power Plant and Transmission Project

According to the Electricity Regulatory Agency, Tập đoàn Adani is currently interested in investing in several energy projects in Vietnam and would like to discuss these issues with EVN.

Specifically, recently, the General Director of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, had a working session with the working delegation of Adani Group – India, led by Mr. Sudipta Bhattacharya, Chief Technology Officer and Head of North America Division, regarding cooperation opportunities in the energy sector.

Mr. Sudipta Bhattacharya informed that Adani Group is interested in investing in certain thermal power plants, electricity transmission projects, and thermal energy projects in Vietnam and wishes to exchange ideas and directions with EVN regarding these issues.
General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan welcomes the orientation of Adani Group, and hopes that during this visit to Vietnam, Adani Group will have more research and exchange opportunities regarding investment and cooperation in the energy sector in Vietnam.
In addition to information on electricity demand in Vietnam, some contents of Power Development Plan VIII which Adani Group is interested in, and basic principles of Vietnam’s electricity market operation, General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan also stated that EVN always desires to cooperate with international energy enterprises on the basis of implementing Vietnam’s regulations.
At the same time, he suggested that enterprises should spend time studying Vietnam’s mechanisms and policies to propose suitable and reputable cooperation opportunities, contributing to promoting the cooperative relationship between the two parties.
Among Adani’s projects in Vietnam are Adani Phuoc Minh Wind Power Plant with a capacity of 27.3 MW and Adani Phuoc Minh Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 50 MW.

Previously, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group. Mr. Gautum Adani highly appreciates the investment environment in Vietnam, especially the interest, willingness to dialogue, and support to help enterprises develop sustainably.

The Chairman of Adani Group introduced to the Prime Minister about the Group, the operating principles of the Group, and the cooperation strategy of Adani in Vietnam with a total investment value of up to 10 billion USD in the next 10 years, in the fields of ports, logistics, infrastructure, renewable energy, including the Lien Chieu Port Project, Da Nang.

On his personal Twitter account, Indian billionaire Gautam Shantilal Adani has also shared about the meeting with Chairman of Vingroup Pham Nhat Vuong. In the meeting, the two sides discussed potential business opportunities between India and Vietnam. The Indian tycoon said he was truly inspired by the impressive entrepreneurial journey of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, about the leadership ability and vision of the Chairman of Vingroup.

Mr. Vuong has started from instant noodles business to producing multiple electric car models and advanced battery solutions to serve global changes towards green mobility.

In 2023, Adani Group’s revenue is about 33 billion USD, and the profit is about 2.9 billion USD, with 29,000 employees worldwide. Mr. Gautam Adani is the 15th richest person in the world with a fortune of 82.5 billion USD and the second richest person in India and Asia.
