On the morning of February 6, 2024 (the 27th day of Tet), Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien led a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to visit, celebrate Tet, and inspect the preparations for ensuring the supply of petroleum and electricity during the Lunar New Year 2024 at Vietnam Electricity Group, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Military Petroleum Corporation and other affiliated units.
The delegation is joined by leaders of departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, including the Domestic Market Department, the Planning and Finance Department, the Market Management Office, the Electricity Regulations Office, the Power and Renewable Energy Office, the Ministry Office, the Industry and Trade Newspaper, the Energy Saving and Sustainable Development Department.

This is an annual activity of the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to inspect and acquire practical information from important energy enterprises in the implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister, the Government, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on preparations and ensuring the supply of essential energy for the people throughout the country during the Lunar New Year; At the same time, this is also an opportunity for the leaders of the industry to visit, celebrate Tet, and encourage the officials and workers of the units directly involved during the traditional Lunar New Year of the nation.

This morning, the delegation visited and celebrated Tet with officials and employees of the Military Petroleum Corporation, inspected the actual situation at Petrolimex Tran Quang Khai petrol station; Duc Giang petroleum warehouse (owned by Petrolimex); Visited and inspected the electricity supply and celebrated Tet at the Long Bien 220kV substation; The National Power System Dispatch Center and Vietnam Electricity Group.

During the meetings, after hearing the brief reports on production and business activities, storage, transportation, and distribution of petroleum; plans and operation of the electricity system during the Lunar New Year 2024, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the production and business operations of the Corporations/Companies, units in ensuring the supply of the 2 strategic essential products, electricity and petroleum for the country’s economy, as well as the preparations and plans for the supply of electricity and petroleum before, during, and after the Lunar New Year.

The Minister emphasized that petroleum and electricity are strategic commodities not only in economic terms but also in terms of national security and social welfare. Therefore, the most important goal is to prevent supply disruptions and shortages of electricity and petroleum in all situations.

Regarding the electricity supply, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued instructions on ensuring the supply of electricity during holidays, Tet, and major political and cultural events in 2024.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requires Vietnam Electricity Group to develop a plan for operating and reasonably mobilizing electricity sources in the national power system to ensure the absolute safety of electricity supply for major political and cultural events, holidays, and Tet in 2024; ensuring sufficient electricity supply for production, business and people’s daily activities throughout 2024, avoiding power shortages in all situations.
Prior to holidays, Tet, and major political and cultural events in 2024, report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (through the Electricity Regulatory Office) on the electricity supply plan, operation of the electricity system, and the coordinating, directing, and providing information points.
PetroVietnam, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group: Develop fuel supply plans (coal, gas, oil) to ensure sufficient, continuous, and stable supply for the electricity demand of power plants; Direct and urge the reliable operation of power plants managed by the Group to ensure the overall power supply system.
Power generation units must strictly comply with the instructions of the dispatching authority, implement the shift operation regime, and report on the operation and incidents of power plants in accordance with existing regulations
