On February 8th, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR, the investor) announced the testing of

Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1

during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday.

According to MAUR, Hitachi (package 3 contractor – procurement of electromechanical equipment, train cars, rails and maintenance for

Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1

project) is taking advantage of the construction suspension to continue enhancing the testing

process

for all 17 train sets.

Train sets of Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 will be continuously tested during the Lunar New Year holiday.

According to MAUR, approximately 40 personnel (mostly experts from Europe and Japan) will be divided into groups to conduct testing, fine-tuning internal systems such as train car engines, information, signaling,…

During the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, from February 8th to February 9th (which falls on the 29th and 30th days of the last lunar month) and from February 12th to February 14th (which falls on the 3rd to 5th days of the Lunar New Year), the personnel will work from 8 am to 6 pm daily.

“The systems of Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 will operate synchronously and almost entirely automatically, so the testing is to ensure that the devices can ‘communicate’ with each other. This is a mandatory requirement to ensure passenger safety during train operation,” MAUR said.
