Sa Pa Fully Booked During Tet

During the Lunar New Year of 2024, the hotels and accommodations in Sa Pa (Lao Cai) were almost fully booked.

The Sa Pa Information and Culture Department in Lao Cai, Sa Pa, announced that during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, hotels and accommodations in Sa Pa were almost fully booked, with an occupancy rate of around 97% during the peak days.

To celebrate the occasion, Sa Pa organized various cultural activities and tourism programs to serve visitors and prepared the best accommodation conditions to welcome guests to the National Tourism Area.

Specifically, the room booking rate on the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year in Sa Pa reached about 55%; from the 3rd to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, it reached 97%, primarily focusing on high-end accommodations in the central area. Meanwhile, community tourist attractions had an average occupancy rate of 45%, with the highest concentration in Tả Van and Mường Hoa villages. Restaurants, cafes, and tourist attractions will resume operations starting from the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year to serve tourists.

It is forecasted that Sa Pa will receive over 100,000 visitors during the Lunar New Year holiday, an increase of more than 11,000 compared to the same period last year. The peak days are expected to be the 3rd and 4th day of the Lunar New Year, with an estimated 65,000 visitors.

To attract tourists, on February 7th, Sa Pa inaugurated the “Convergence of Sa Pa’s Cultural Space Essence.” It is a unique architectural complex with miniature landscapes depicting the magnificent scenery of Sa Pa, such as the terraced fields of Mường Hoa and the peak of Fansipan, along with the exhibition of indigenous flowers of Sa Pa, such as peach blossoms, ancient peach trees, Hoang Lien rhododendron, and narcissus flowers. In addition, there are exhibition areas showcasing the traditional handicrafts of 5 ethnic minorities: Mông, Dao, Tày, Giáy, and Xa Phó, with traditional crafts of weaving, terracotta patterns, making con drums, and gongs.

Prior to the 2023 Lunar New Year holiday, Sa Pa welcomed 88,815 visitors, including about 2,316 international visitors. The total estimated revenue reached over 305 billion VND.
