However, this is actually just a concept car and Toyota has not announced any plans to put this car into production, unlike other variants of the Crown such as the SUV, Wagon, Sedan, or Crossover which already have sales plans.

Based on the released images, this convertible Toyota Crown 1-0-2 comes in two exterior colors: brown and black, giving a sense of luxury. In terms of mechanics, the A-pillar has been modified to fit the new design. Meanwhile, the B, C, and D-pillars have been removed. The Japanese automaker still maintains the same 4-seater configuration with 4 doors.

The area behind the second-row seats is like a cover for the convertible top, but Toyota has stated that they do not plan to equip this part as they want the Crown to retain its unique open-top design. At the same time, this design choice also preserves the trunk space capacity. Therefore, when this Toyota Crown is put into use, it will not be able to provide rain or sun protection.

According to reports, the entire transformation process of the Toyota Crown into a convertible was carried out by engineers at the company’s factory. Toyota Vice Chairman, Mr. Hiroki Nakajima, stated that completing this unique Crown was “very challenging”.

Also in the photo is a convertible Toyota Crown 1-0-2 alongside a white Toyota Century convertible. This vehicle was also created by Toyota, but for the purpose of parading and celebrating Japanese Sumo champions. Toyota and the Japan Sumo Association have confirmed that this car will not be widely available to the public.

The Century convertible has had the roof removed, and the interior has been reconfigured, raising the rear floor in order to make it easier for people inside to stand or sit down in the back for the aforementioned parade purposes.
