HCM orders top-class Spring preparation, welcomes 7 container shipments

On the evening of February 9th (the 30th day of Tet), the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City attended the program to kickstart the Lunar New Year at Tan Cang Cat Lai (Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City).

Attending the program were Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Tran Kim Yen, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and Major General Nguyen Van Nam, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City High Command.

Addressing the Lunar New Year cargo loading ceremony, Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, said that during the 2024 Tet holiday (Year of the Horse), Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port will maintain more than 1,100 direct workers on each shift to manage, operate, and serve.

In the first week of the Lunar New Year, the port welcomed 75 cargo vessels, with a throughput of 72,000 TEUs, equivalent to over 1 million tons of goods (an increase of 9% compared to the same period during Tet holiday in 2023).

During the Lunar New Year cargo loading ceremony, the port will receive 7 container vessels carrying electronic components – the main product group. This group of goods has contributed to Ho Chi Minh City’s exports reaching over 42 billion USD in 2023.

Speaking at the program, Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, highly appreciated the achievements of Saigon Newport Corporation in the past year. At the same time, on the occasion of the new year, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee sent wishes to Saigon Newport Corporation to successfully fulfill its tasks in 2024, aiming for the achievement of the 35th anniversary and deserving of the 2-time title of Hero of Labor.

During the program, Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, presented gifts to the leaders, soldiers, and workers of Saigon Newport Corporation and participated in the Lunar New Year cargo loading ceremony at Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port.
