According to initial information, at around 10am on the same day, at Km48 + 200 on the Cam Lo – La Son expressway (through the area of Thua Thien – Hue), there was a collision between 3 cars including a truck with license plate 63H-005.68, a sedan with license plate 36A-485.67, and a prime mover with license plate 63C-136.59 (pulling a trailer with license plate 63R-002.27).
The dashcam of the prime mover recorded the whole scene of the accident. From what was observed, the sedan was overtaking when it collided with the prime mover traveling in the same direction. The sedan flipped over. At the same time, a truck in the opposite direction came and hit the sedan, then collided head-on with the prime mover.
At the scene, the sedan with Thanh Hoa license plate was under the highway barrier, severely crushed and deformed. Other vehicles were also heavily damaged.

At 11:30 am on February 18th, the police and functional forces in Thua Thien – Hue went to the scene to carry out rescue and relief work.
All 3 victims were in the sedan with license plate 36A-485.67. The mother and daughter died, and the son was seriously injured. The other injured people were promptly rescued and taken to medical facilities by the rescue forces.
The authorities initially determined that the cause was the sedan overtaking on the right and then cutting to the left, colliding with the front of the container truck, leading to the accident. Currently, the multiple accident is still under investigation and clarification.
