Hanoi plans to start construction of 4 bridges over the Red River in 2024 – VTV.VN
According to the plan from now until 2030, Hanoi will have a total of 16 bridges crossing the Red River, creating favorable conditions for seamless connectivity between economic and political centers, between regions and satellite towns.
Inspired by the wings of peace, 1 of the 4 bridge projects will be started in Hanoi this year. Thượng Cát Bridge, built north across the Red River, will contribute to the development of comprehensive transportation infrastructure, connecting the central urban area with the suburban area, with the northern capital city in the future and Vinh Phuc province.
In addition to the Thượng Cát Bridge, the remaining 3 bridges, Vân Phúc, Hồng Hà, and Mễ Sở, will also be constructed in the third and fourth quarters of this year.
Among them, Hồng Hà and Mễ Sở are 2 bridges on the Ring Road 4, which are expected to be a turning point for the development of the capital city.
Thượng Cát Bridge is one of 4 bridge projects that will be started in Hanoi this year.
In addition to the 4 bridges that will be started this year, according to the plan from now until 2030, Hanoi will have 4 more bridges connecting the two banks of the Red River, including Tứ Liên, Trần Hưng Đạo, Ngọc Hồi, and Phú Xuyên bridges.
Over 100 years ago, Long Biên Bridge was the first iron bridge connecting the two banks of the Red River in Hanoi, becoming a part of the city’s history. In the autumn days of 1954, the bridge welcomed the victorious army returning to liberate the capital and played a role in connecting trade between the two river banks until today.
Many other bridges have been built in the following years, creating a more modern appearance for the city.
Hanoi currently has 8 bridges crossing the Red River, which are not only witnesses of history but also highlights of the city’s development. Hanoi has now become a major urban area with many potentials and opportunities, with a new development direction as a city facing the Red River.
To realize this idea, Hanoi needs more bridges crossing the river, creating momentum for the economic and social development of the capital city in the future.
