Changi Airport International (CAI) and Cam Ranh International Terminal Corporation (CRTC) have recently announced their partnership on February 20, 2024, in Singapore. Through this strategic collaboration, Cam Ranh Airport aims to become a key aviation hub in the Southeast Asia region, in close partnership with Changi Airport in Singapore.
With the support of financial partners such as Legacy Infrastructure Company and Changi Airport, Cam Ranh Airport is expected to undergo significant transformations in its management and operations, in order to meet international standards and provide world-class experiences to its passengers. The first milestone in Cam Ranh Airport’s long-term development journey is to increase its capacity from 6.8 million to 8-10 million passengers per year.
Cam Ranh International Airport, mainly owned by Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen, will be working together with CAI for the next 5 years to improve passengers’ experience and boost the revenue growth of the airport. Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen will serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for CRTC during this period.
It is worth noting that Changi Airport in Singapore has been consistently ranked among the world’s top airports by Skytrax for more than a decade. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Changi Airport welcomed over 68 million passengers and ranked as the 7th busiest airport in the world. Therefore, the partnership between CRTC – the investor and operator of Cam Ranh International Airport, and Changi Airport will provide opportunities for the development of advanced technologies, such as automated check-in systems, immigration procedures, and automatic value-added tax refunds. ” Vietnam is competing internationally, and we need airports like Changi,” said Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen.
Cam Ranh International Terminal started its operation in July 2018. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cam Ranh Airport welcomed around 6.8 million passengers in 2019, with over 30 airlines connecting to more than 80 destinations worldwide. In the early days of 2024, Cam Ranh Airport has formed new partnerships with 3 airlines, creating new destinations for potential tourists from Europe and Asia. Currently, more than 30 airlines operate at Cam Ranh Airport, connecting Nha Trang to over 100 destinations worldwide. It is also the fourth busiest airport in Vietnam.
However, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict has significantly reduced passenger traffic at this terminal, leading to delays in many of CRTC’s plans in recent years.
