Until today (22-2), dozens of parents in Gia Lai province have not been able to demand tuition fees from Apax Leaders Language Center’s Gia Lai branch, which has ceased operations.
According to the parents’ feedback, in November 2018, Apax Leaders Language Center’s Gia Lai branch started operating at 53 Quang Trung Street, Pleiku City, Gia Lai province. Many parents trusted and sent their children to this center with tuition fees ranging from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of Vietnamese Dong.
However, from late 2021 to early 2022, the center closed without teaching and refunding money to parents.
Ms. P.T.P (resident of Pleiku City) said she registered her two children to study at the center with a total tuition fee of 130 million Vietnamese Dong. However, shortly after paying the tuition fee, the center closed without teaching and did not refund the tuition fee. “The center has closed and we couldn’t contact the representative, so we don’t know how to reclaim the paid tuition fee” – the frustrated parent said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi N. also mentioned that in 2020, she registered one of her children to study at Apax Leaders Language Center’s branch in Gia Lai. In 2021, she continued to register another child to study here.
When the center stopped operating, Ms. N. still had 47 million Dong of prepaid tuition fees. Although she has contacted many times to reclaim the paid amount, she has not received any response.
In addition to these parents, many others have paid the tuition fees for their children to study at Apax Leaders Language Center’s branch in Gia Lai. However, after the center closed, the remaining tuition fees ranging from 10 to 30 million Dong have not been refunded to the parents. These parents have completely lost contact with the center’s representatives.
Gia Lai Department of Education and Training also mentioned that in 2022, Apax Leaders Language Center’s Gia Lai branch submitted a report to the department. According to the report, the center cited difficulties in recruiting foreign teachers to meet the parents’ requirements; maintaining salaries for teachers, staff, and paying rental debts.
Based on that, the center proposed to implement a restructuring plan and resume operation in January 2023. However, up to now, the center is still closed.
The Department of Education and Training also cannot contact Apax Leaders
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh, Deputy Head of the Personnel Organization Department – Gia Lai Department of Education and Training, said that according to the registration procedures, the Director of Apax Leaders Language Center in Gia Lai is Ms. Bui Thi Thuong (33 years old, residing in Ia Kha commune, Duc Co district, Gia Lai province). However, the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training cannot contact her to carry out the dissolution procedures for Apax Leaders Language Center’s Gia Lai branch.
