At the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024), Samsung showcased the Galaxy Ring smart ring used for health tracking.
In fact, Samsung announced the Galaxy Ring at the Unpacked event back in January. However, at that time, the manufacturer only released a single image and all details were still unclear. At MWC 2024, attendees were able to witness the Galaxy Ring in person even though it was only a prototype.

Samsung stated that the Galaxy Ring has sensors to track body metrics such as sleep quality, heart rate, blood oxygen level, skin temperature, and menstrual cycle. These functions have been certified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Just introduced, Galaxy Ring was immediately compared to the Oura Ring – the most popular smart ring on the market that even Ronaldo uses.
Being present at MWC 2024, reporter Kerry Wan from Zdnet had the opportunity to admire the Galaxy Ring and have a conversation with Hon Pak – Vice President of Samsung’s Health Department. Although it is not possible to compare the features as Samsung has not yet announced clear specifications for the Galaxy Ring, Kerry Wan still believes that this product has 2 outstanding points compared to the Oura Ring.
The first is in the design. Basically, both rings are designed with a transparent interior, covered with a layer of metal or gold on the outside. Galaxy Ring is expected to have 3 colors: silver, gold, and black. This product also has different sizes for users to choose from, similar to the Oura Ring.
However, the difference lies in the fact that the Galaxy Ring has a concave design in the middle while the Oura Ring has a convex design. Kerry Wan believes that with this design, users will feel more comfortable when wearing it.
Sharing the same opinion is journalist Rita El Khoury from Android Authority. “In my opinion, the concave design brings 3 advantages to Samsung compared to the Oura Ring. First, the Galaxy Ring will look more elegant and stylish than the Oura Ring. It will also be less scratchable because it is not exposed as much externally. And finally, when wearing it, I feel a better fit,” Rita evaluates.

According to Kerry Wan, the second advantage of the Galaxy Ring over the Oura Ring is its accompanying Samsung ecosystem. Thanks to this, the use will be more convenient and flexible. Android Authority provides an example of this.
“The Galaxy Ring integrates perfectly with the Galaxy Watch. Therefore, you can wear the Galaxy Watch 6 during the day, monitor the metrics, and receive notifications. In the evening, you can transfer the data to the Galaxy Ring and wear it during sleep. At that time, you can charge your watch. That is the power of Samsung,” Android Authority concludes.

Of course, the Oura Ring also has its advantages. This product is compatible with both Android and iOS operating systems. On the other hand, the Galaxy Ring is likely to be compatible with Android only at the time of launch.
Currently, the Galaxy Ring is still in the process of being perfected. Some sources predict that this product may be launched in the market at the end of this year.
