The Suzuki Jimny, a small-sized SUV with unique design and impressive off-road capabilities, is attracting the attention of many customers in Vietnam. However, despite the long-awaited announcement, Vietnamese consumers still have to wait a long time to own this hot model.
Continuous “sold out” in India and Australia, scarce in Vietnam
The new generation Suzuki Jimny was globally launched in 2018 and quickly created a fever in markets such as India and Australia. This model is constantly sold out, with waiting times of several months, even more than a year.

The 5-door Suzuki Jimny was officially introduced to the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2023 in January 2024. It is expected that this small-sized SUV will be available in India in April. However, just over 1 month after its launch, more than 20,000 customers have made deposits for it.
In Australia, the 3-door version of the Suzuki Jimny had to temporarily stop accepting orders after the batch of 500 cars sold out in less than 5 hours.
In Vietnam, the Jimny has also received special attention from car enthusiasts. The Suzuki Jimny was imported to Vietnam from July 2023 by Suzuki Vietnam. However, the quantity of cars in Vietnam is extremely limited, and users have to wait a long time to receive them.
The appeal of the Suzuki Jimny comes from several factors. This model has a square, masculine design, likened to a “mini G63” – a downsized version of the luxury SUV Mercedes-AMG G63. Its compact size and impressive off-road capabilities make the Jimny an ideal choice for those who love exploration and adventure.

The Suzuki Jimny originates from the kei car line in Japan, produced since 1970. With its small, playful look, the Jimny is not only capable of off-roading but also inspires various customization styles. The Jimny is equipped with a 1.5L I4 VVT engine, producing 102 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and a maximum torque of 130 Nm at 4,000 RPM.

With a sturdy frame structure, independent suspension system, and power from the 1.5L engine, the Suzuki Jimny is not just a urban vehicle but also capable of conquering challenging off-road terrains. Although smaller than the G-Class, the Jimny still exudes the adventurous, daring, and charismatic traits of an SUV.
According to Thanh Nien newspaper, at the end of 2023, some Suzuki dealerships quoted a price range of 790 – 800 million VND (approximately $34,390 – $34,758) for the Jimny, with an expected delivery in 2024. However, Suzuki Vietnam sent an internal notice to authorized dealers in September, stating that it is unable to set an exact date for delivery.
In the context of the Jimny frenzy still ongoing, a few days ago, Dan Tri newspaper quoted Suzuki Japan’s announcement on February 19, stating that the price of the Jimny in Japan will be adjusted from April 11. The kei-car version of the Jimny will have a new starting price of 1,962,400 yen (approximately $17,315), an increase of 98,600 yen ($868) compared to the current price. Therefore, experts predict that the price of the Jimny in Vietnam (3-door version) will also increase, surpassing the 800 million VND mark ($34,758).
