Mai Linh is one of the leading names in the taxi service business. Although the taxi-hailing app was launched in 2017, Mai Linh Taxi app has been in development since 2015. Despite the late entry into the market, it has seen significant success.

According to the Q1 2023 report “The Connected Consumer” by Decision Lab – YouGov’s exclusive partner in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Mobile Marketing Association of Vietnam (MMA), 70% of respondents stated that they use Grab for booking rides. In terms of popularity, 55% chose Grab as the most frequently used ride-hailing app, a 2% increase compared to Q4 2022.

Mai Linh Taxi app ranks second in terms of usage and popularity among all ride-hailing platforms, surpassing other tech-based taxi platforms such as GoJek and Be, which have a smaller market share compared to Mai Linh Taxi – a traditional taxi operator well-known among the Vietnamese people.

The usage rate of Mai Linh Taxi app among respondents in Q1 2023 was 29%, a1% increase compared to the previous quarter. The usage rates for GoJek and Be were 24% and 20% respectively, both decreasing from Q4 2022.

In terms of popularity, 11% chose Mai Linh Taxi as the most frequently used ride-hailing app, a 1% increase from Q4 2022. GoJek ranked third with 8%, a 1% decrease compared to the previous quarter.

When segmented by age groups, among Gen X (born from 1960 to 1980) and Gen Y (born from 1981 to 1996), Mai Linh Taxi is the second preferred app after Grab. In addition to the ride-hailing app, Mai Linh also operates a nationwide taxi hotline – 1055.

Mai Linh continues to restructure and diversify its business model. On May 30, 2023, Mai Linh Group Joint Stock Company held its annual general meeting for 2023. According to the report presented at the meeting, the company has successfully reversed its losses, ending a four-year streak of operating at a loss.

What are the benefits for employees at Mai Linh Taxi?

In June 2023, a male driver working for Mai Linh Taxi shared a video on the Nhà Quê Vlogs channel, revealing his monthly income as a taxi driver.

In the video, the driver stated that in May 2023, he worked for 31 days, earning a total revenue of 42,361,000 VND. However, after subtracting the driver’s share of 21,440,000 VND and an allowance of 77,100 VND, as well as deducting expenses such as fuel, insurance, and other costs related to accidents, marketing, and car washing, the driver received a final net income of 8,682,115 VND.

On April 3, 2023, Mai Linh Taxi posted a job announcement for drivers in Ho Chi Minh City. The benefits and incentives for drivers are as follows:

1. Attractive deposit waiver/reduction policy

Initial deposit: 1,000,000 VND for new/experienced/recurrent drivers.

2. Attractive deposit bonus policy

Bonus for deposit: 2,000,000 VND for all new/experienced/recurrent drivers or investors who have terminated their Business Cooperation Contract and transferred to becoming company drivers.

3. Support for the first two months’ revenue

First month: 10% revenue support for new drivers and 5% revenue support for recurrent drivers.

Second month: 5% revenue support for new drivers.

Support period and method: Directly added to the driver’s daily salary/income.

Support for driver training costs based on actual expenses from the Mai Linh Vocational Training Center.
