On March 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the regular Government meeting for February to discuss the socio-economic situation, implement three national target programs, disburse public investment capital, and set key directions for the coming period.

In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister requested delegates to analyze and forecast the situation, as well as propose tasks to focus on leading and directing, and tasks to be implemented to accelerate the achievement of the goals of the entire term by 2024. This includes tasks to attract and retain multinational corporations and reputable companies in the world in the field of technology.

The Prime Minister requested delegates to provide opinions on the draft Resolution of the meeting and assign specific tasks to ministries, sectors, and localities to focus on key and focal matters, concentrating on tasks with high spillover effects.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister also emphasized the promotion of new growth drivers such as digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy development, sharing economy, and knowledge economy; as well as revitalizing old growth drivers such as investment, export, and consumption.

According to reports at the meeting, in February and the first two months of the year, the socio-economic situation continued to have positive trends and achieved better results compared to the same period in 2023. The macroeconomy remained stable; inflation was controlled, ensuring major balances of the economy.

Growth was promoted; agriculture, industry, and services all showed positive signals, performing better than the same period last year. Public investment and social investment continued to achieve good results.

The work of improving institutions, laws, administrative procedures, planning, and digital transformation continued to be strengthened. Attention was paid to cultural and social fields; people’s lives continued to be improved. Political and social stability was maintained; defense and security were enhanced; international relations were strengthened.

In addition to the achieved results, our country still faces challenges, shortcomings, and continues to face difficulties and challenges, such as high macroeconomic management pressure, especially with the fluctuation of crude oil prices and world food prices. Production and business in some sectors have not yet clearly recovered. Administrative procedures in some places and fields are still cumbersome; discipline in some places is not strict; the spirit and attitude of some officials and civil servants have not yet met requirements…
