On March 4, 2024, tech billionaire Bill Gates and his girlfriend arrived in Da Nang, Vietnam on a Gulfstream G650ER private jet.
After nearly two decades, Bill Gates has returned to Vietnam as a destination for his 5-day vacation.

He and his girlfriend Paula Kalupa are staying at a 5-star resort in Son Tra District, Da Nang. During this visit, he will also visit Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized in 1999.
Hoi An is a famous destination in Vietnam and the world. Hoi An welcomed a total of 4 million visitors in 2023. The total tourism revenue of Hoi An reached VND 4,139.7 billion, according to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoi An City.
Hoi An – A Must-Visit Destination
Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is located in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam. It is an iconic trading port in Southeast Asia from the 15th to 19th century.
This ancient town is a combination of local and foreign cultures, resulting in a unique and distinctive heritage. With its traditional architecture and a network of old streets representing the ancient port model, Hoi An takes pride in its ancient houses, paved flat streets, and Japanese-style bridges from the 18th century, which are evidence of a bustling trading era.

Recently, Hoi An celebrated as UNESCO announced the city’s inclusion in the Global Network of Creative Cities. This event is not only a source of pride for the local community but also contributes to promoting cultural connections and creativity, improving the quality of life for the people.
By joining UNESCO’s creative network, Hoi An aims to promote sustainable development, public-private partnership, and encourage residents, artists, and entrepreneurs to participate in startup and creative programs. Hoi An has chosen the handicrafts and folk art sector to apply for membership, along with more than 99 other members worldwide, highlighting diversity and advanced creativity in design and products.

Prior to coming to Vietnam, he attended a wedding in India and visited the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, in Gujarat, India.
Gulfstream G650ER, the private jet usually accompanying Gates, is known as the Rolls Royce of the business jet world, with a list price of nearly $70 million. With a maximum capacity of 17 passengers, the aircraft can fly nonstop for more than 13,800 km thanks to two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines.
Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, is a pioneer of the computer revolution since the 1970s and 1980s, with an estimated net worth of $149 billion and currently the fifth richest person in the world as of March 2024.
Since stepping down as CEO of Microsoft in 2008, he has focused on business and philanthropic projects. He also contributes to scientific research and charity through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
