Investment project to build the Hồ Chí Minh road, from Rạch Sỏi to Bến Nhất and Gò Quao to Vĩnh Thuận, has a total investment amount of over 3.9 trillion VND, funded by the state budget. The project is managed by the Hồ Chí Minh Road Project Management Board and is expected to be completed by 2025.
The project has a total length of nearly 52 km. Among which, the Rạch Sỏi – Bến Nhất section is about 11 km long, and the Gò Quao – Vĩnh Thuận section is about 41 km long. It is a grade III road, with 4 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h.

Nguyễn Thanh Nhàn, Vice Chairman of Kiên Giang Provincial People’s Committee, said that this is one of the 17 road sections that are of great importance to the province. When completed, the road will form a network of key transport links between localities in the Mekong Delta region, facilitating connections and promoting economic development, improving people’s lives.
“Kiên Giang province is committed to ensuring the progress of tasks under its responsibility,” said Mr. Nhàn, calling on local residents to support and cooperate with the project and expedite land clearance.
Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyễn Duy Lâm stated that the Hồ Chí Minh road project from Rạch Sỏi to Bến Nhất and Gò Quao to Vĩnh Thuận is of great importance in the Southwest region. The road is one of the infrastructure projects driving socio-economic development, attracting investments, and developing urban, industrial, commercial, tourism, and service areas in the region.

“When completed, the Rạch Sỏi – Bến Nhất and Gò Quao – Vĩnh Thuận sections will form a complete regional road transport system, reducing traffic congestion on other roads in the area and effectively exploiting major national transportation infrastructures. This project has been eagerly anticipated by the local authorities and people for many years,” said Mr. Lâm.

In order to ensure the progress and quality of the project, the Ministry of Transport and the Hồ Chí Minh Road Project Management Board, consultants, and contractors are required to strictly comply with the laws and technical guidelines of the project, and prevent corruption and violations. Regarding Kiên Giang and Bạc Liêu provinces, Mr. Lâm suggested that they promptly complete all land clearance work, arrange disposal sites, and prioritize the supply of sufficient construction materials for the project…
