Located in the southwest of the Red River Delta, in the key economic region of the North, about 50km south of the capital city. Ha Nam Province is the second smallest province in the country with an area of ​​861 km2 (slightly larger than Bac Ninh Province 823 km2), along with a population of 886,000 people (2023).

Ha Nam has an important geographical location, serving as a trading hub from the capital to the southern provinces, it is also the locality with the fewest administrative units in the country, including one city, Phu Ly City, Duy Tien Town and 4 districts: Ly Nhan, Binh Luc, Thanh Liem, Kim Bang. Although it is a small province with few administrative units, Ha Nam’s social and economic development has many prominent points. Specifically, the province’s total annual Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is expected to reach over 50,000 billion; the economic growth rate is expected to reach 9.41%, ranking 5th in the Red River Delta and 8th in the country. Especially, the total provincial budget revenue in 2023 is expected to exceed 12,800 billion VND, equivalent to the budget revenue of the 6 provinces with the least revenue combined (Hà Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Bac Kan).

In terms of economic structure, Ha Nam has been and is still shifting in a positive direction. Specifically, in 2023, the industrial and construction sector accounted for 64.1%; the service sector accounted for 23%; agriculture, forestry and fisheries accounted for 7.3%; product tax minus subsidy product accounted for 5.9%. With the achievements obtained in the past time, according to the approved Ha Nam Province Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, Ha Nam Province sets the target for 2030 to build a rich, beautiful and civilized province, striving to achieve a relatively developed level of development of the Red River Delta. Ha Nam Province has many bright spots in economic and social development, partly thanks to a convenient transportation system with many important roads such as National Road 1A, National Road 21B, Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway… There is also a railway line North – South passing through the province. A typical example is the groundbreaking of phase one of the Bac Chau Giang New Urban Area Project at the end of January. The project covers an area of ​​approximately 4.05 km2, with a total investment of up to 35,000 billion VND.

Also in the province, in Ly Nhan District, the High-Tech Industrial Park is being implemented with an area of ​​up to 6.6 km2. In the future, when completed, this will be the place to focus investment in functional subdivisions with the focus on projects in the field of artificial intelligence, electronics and semiconductors, automation, biotechnology and medicine, new material technology…

Ha Nam Province has natural advantages with large limestone reserves, abundant mineral resources, helping the province to develop various industries and cottage industries such as: Lime production, cement… In the future, Ha Nam has the potential to become one of the large construction materials industrial centers in the North Delta.
