Sharp decline in VN30 index futures trading in February

According to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), the derivative stock market experienced a significant decrease in trading activities in February 2024.

The average trading volume (ATV) of the VN30 futures contract reached 166,138 contracts/session, down nearly 11.6% compared to January 2024. The trading value (TV, in contract nominal terms) reached 20,391 billion VND/session, down nearly 7.2% compared to the previous month. Open interest (OI) at the end of February was 48,184 contracts, down nearly 11.4% compared to the previous month and down more than 20.6% compared to the same period last year.

No trading was conducted for the government bond futures contracts in February 2024.

In terms of investor structure, in February 2024, foreign investors continued to increase their trading activity, accounting for nearly 3.4% of the total trading value of the market, while securities companies’ proprietary trading accounted for 2.1%.

The number of derivative securities trading accounts reached 1.54 million accounts at the end of February 2024, up 1.8% compared to the previous month.
