The OAG report titled “Asia-Pacific’s Airline Champions” highlights the recovery journey of airlines and airports in the region, assessing frequency growth, operational capacity, network and recovery.

Mayur Patel, Head of OAG Asia-Pacific, stated: “The full recovery of the regional aviation market will take place by the end of 2024 and early 2025. With the increasing number of aircraft orders in the region and the development of travel demand and income, Asia-Pacific will lead the global aviation market in the next decade.”

Notably, according to OAG, Vietjet of Vietnam is the “champion” in two important categories: the Fastest-growing Low-cost Carrier in terms of operational capacity on short-haul flights under 4,630 km, surpassing India’s Indigo and Singapore’s Scoot; and the “champion” in frequency growth on short-haul flights, with Vietjet ranking 2nd and 3rd respectively in this category, following Indigo and Airasia India.

Vietjet is also honored as the “champion” in the Best Network Growth category with an ever-expanding network to various domestic and international destinations in the reporting period. Vietjet has opened 33 international and domestic routes, bringing the total number of operated routes by the end of 2023 to 125 routes, including 80 international routes and 45 domestic routes.

From the beginning of 2024 until now, Vietjet has also opened new routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Chengdu (China), Vientiane (Laos), two routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien Phu… The airline has also announced the Melbourne-Hanoi route.

At Singapore Airshow 2024, Vietjet also announced an agreement for 20 new A330 aircraft with Airbus to supplement its fleet of 105 aircraft, serving its sustainable network development plans…
The OAG report also shows the strong development of Vietnam’s aviation industry, providing more flight opportunities for passengers.
