Recently, SAIC Motor Philippines officially launched its all-new 5-seater SUV model. The newcomer, named MG One, features a youthful appearance and a technologically advanced interior that makes competitors in the segment like Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, and Hyundai Tucson think twice.

In the Philippines market, the MG One 2024 is distributed with 2 versions and the following suggested retail prices: MG One 1.5 CVT STD – P1,298,888 (approximately 577 million VND) and MG One 1.5 CVT Lux – P1,458,888 (approximately 648 million VND).

However, MG Philippines is offering special price incentives, so the prices are reduced to: MG One 1.5 CVT STD – P1,223,888 (approximately 543 million VND) and MG One 1.5 CVT Lux – P1,390,888 (approximately 618 million VND).

The MG One 2024 has overall dimensions of 4,581 x 1,871 x 1,617 mm and a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, which is similar to the Mazda CX-5. Compared to the HS model, the MG One is 7 mm longer, 5 mm narrower, and 47 mm shorter in height.

Applying the dual front face design language of the MG brand, the MG One 2024 possesses a muscular and youthful exterior with a large-sized grille, compact headlights that sweep back, integrated with 3 LED daytime running lights, and a sporty front bumper. Similar to the MG5 and HS, the MG One 2024 also has a sloping front end design, reminiscent of a “shark hunting its prey”.

The MG One 2024 is equipped with 18/19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with a 5-spoke design. The rear end features LED taillights with a design similar to the headlights, a split-tone rear spoiler that exudes a shiny and dynamic look, a rear diffuser with integrated air vents, and 2 rectangular-shaped faux exhaust tips.

The right-hand screen measures 12.3 inches and belongs to the infotainment system, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

In addition, this Chinese-made model also features faux leather interior, dual-tone power-adjustable seats that maximize flexibility with a 60:40 folding capability and a spacious rear trunk that can carry up to 1,120 liters of storage. Furthermore, the car is equipped with an electric transmission, a push-button start, wireless phone charging, electronic parking brake, and a Panorama panoramic sunroof.

In terms of power, the MG One 2024 in the Philippines market is equipped with a 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 1.5L gasoline engine with a maximum power output of 181 horsepower and a peak torque of 285 Nm. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 8.8 seconds, offering lightweight driving at low speeds and stability at high speeds.

The MG One has many safety features, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and 6 airbags. Additionally, the car is also equipped with MG Pilot, an advanced driver assistance system. This technology operates both day and night and scans the roads ahead and the surrounding area to detect potential collisions with other cars, bicycles, pedestrians, and even large animals.

In Vietnam, MG is distributed by Mercedes Haxaco. MG Motor is originally a British brand, but since 2005, SAIC Motor (China) has acquired MG and turned it into an exclusive brand, alongside Maxus and Roewe. SAIC Motor Vietnam officially took over MG distribution in the Vietnamese market from July 2023. The brand has policies that are evaluated as “not letting customers compare with any other brand”.
