A Memorable Journey through Vietnam

“Charging Into The Future” was organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment and development of the British automotive brand MG. This is a trip around the world from London to Shanghai in the MG Cyberster electric supercar. The journey lasted 7 months with a total length of 10,000 miles (over 16,000 km), passing through 3 continents and 23 countries. Starting in London, passing through iconic locations in Europe and Central Asia.

In the land of the S-shaped strip, the twins with the electric supercar spent time exploring and discovering the capital of Hanoi at the Temple of Literature, the Cathedral, the Long Bien Bridge… and enjoying dozens of delicious dishes in the land of the capital. The couple were very excited by the habit of traveling by motorbike here, along with the unforgettable moments in the famous train area. Continuing the journey, the car continued to take the couple to experience one of the seven new natural wonders of the world – Ha Long Bay, exploring the highlights of Da Nang City, the romantic coconut forest and Thu Bon River at night. Finally, the journey in Vietnam ended with a vibrant Ho Chi Minh City.

The memories and impressions that MG Cyberster and the Turner couple left for the Vietnamese people come not only from the beauty and power of the car but also from the message it conveys: a green and sustainable future with electric car technology.

Cyberster: Opening a new chapter in MG’s global brand development

Returning to the “origin” of the shape of traditional racing cars, strong and attractive, Cyberster was first launched in Vietnam in 9/2023 with a 2-door, 2-seater configuration full of personality. Cyberster – developed at MG’s London Design Centre, is inspired by the classic MGB Roadster model. The car has new technological features such as a cockpit that can play interactive games and 5G connection. The car has classic MG headlights, combined with a slim grille design, along with an intelligent ‘Magic eye’ lighting system. Other notable details of the MG Cyberster include the “laser belt” LED strip running along the side of the car and the door trim running in the direction of the LED strip.

The interior of the car is designed with a “digital” theme, applying a driver-centric layout, featuring a large LED clock cluster along with two screens in the central area, supporting the driver with all the necessary information when moving at high speeds as well as providing the best driving experience. In addition, MG’s “zero gravity” seat design has a floating headrest, while the red leather door panels and armrests reflect the “laser belt” running along the outside of the car.

The car has two drivetrain configurations with a 310 horsepower single motor driving the rear wheels with a 64kWh battery (for a range of 501km) or a 77kWh (580km). The premium version uses a dual motor driving two axles with a capacity of 536 horsepower, combined with a 77kWh battery for a range of 520km, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds.

As a symbol of innovation and creativity, the MG Cyberster marks a turning point in the development history of MG, representing the brand’s vision with real electric sports cars – the future of greening, of experience and superior performance.

The round-the-world event with a destination in Vietnam is considered a stepping stone for the MG brand to bring electric vehicle models such as the MG4 EV or the commercial version of the “electric supercar” MG Cyberster to the Vietnamese market in the near future.

A spirit of readiness to conquer new challenges

On the first round-the-world journey of the electric supercar, behind the wheel of the Cyberster is the twin duo of Hugo and Ross Turner – famous professional explorers from the UK who currently hold 2 world records and have achieved many feats such as rowing across the Atlantic, challenging the tip of the Greenland ice sheet and conquering the summit of Elbrus.

After an accident that nearly paralyzed Hugo at the age of 17, after 6 months of surgery, the twins were determined to pursue their passion for exploration and conquest together. They believe that technology is the key to unlocking unexplored limits for every person and is the most effective tool in responding to climate change. The twins have brought those ideas to life with hydrogenation and electrification journeys on motorcycles, boats and now with the Cyberster – a unique two-door electric supercar.

Journey of Turner Twins brothers in Vietnam

Ross Turner said, “The adventure with Cyberster is really an exciting challenge on a car that accelerates from 0-100km/h in under 3 seconds, and it’s a true sports car just like the history of the MG brand”

Hugo Turner added, “In between the car’s charging times, we’ll have the opportunity to see and experience the world in a more diverse way through culture, cuisine, and people, while introducing the latest technologies that MG brings through this amazing car, fostering a new era of electrification through the journey”

A spirit that always accepts challenges, embraces the new; The desire to explore the limits of technology from “The Turner twins” somewhat reflects the spirit of the British brand: Always ready to conquer challenges, set higher goals to improve themselves.

100 Years of MG – A Journey from Past to Future

The MG brand, short for Morris Garages, was founded in 1924 and became an iconic British car brand in the 1960s, consistently impressing with models that outperformed their rivals with powerful, sporty and engaging models, reaching the top speed of 100km/h – a remarkable figure in the early years of the automotive industry, while also winning prestigious victories in famous races around the world.

After being acquired by SAIC, MG continued its pioneering journey in suspension, chassis design and engine performance improvements. In addition to models using internal combustion engines, MG is also actively involved in the electric vehicle trend and has achieved significant success.
