4-Month Tourist Arrivals in Ninh Binh Nearly Equals 2023 Total

In 2023, the province of Ninh Binh welcomed around 6.5 million visitors. However, in just the first four months of 2024, the locality has received an extremely "large" number of guests, almost equal to the total number of visitors in the previous year.

In an official announcement, the provincial Department of Tourism has declared that all precautionary measures have been taken to ensure the best possible experience for tourists during upcoming national holidays in 2024.

International tourists take in the sights of the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital

According to estimates by the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, the location will witness over 1,027,800 visitors in April 2024. This signifies a 2.1-fold increase compared to the same month last year. Accommodation establishments may expect over 213,900 bookings, reflecting a rise of more than 2.6 times. Moreover, the average length of stay has also increased considerably, surpassing last year’s figures by over 2 times and reaching an estimated 234,300 visitor days.

The tourism sector’s revenue for the month is forecasted to reach an impressive 993.7 billion VND, marking a growth of 2.2 times over the previous year’s corresponding period. Notably, the accommodation sector alone is estimated to contribute 77.7 billion VND, representing an increase of 1.7 times; while the restaurant industry is expected to reach 536.3 billion VND, reflecting a rise of over 2.6 times. Transportation services will likely generate 121.5 billion VND, signaling a 1.5-fold increase. Entrance fees to tourist attractions are also projected to bring in 56.7 billion VND, indicating a growth of 1.8 times…

The report further indicates that Ninh Binh welcomed nearly 5 million visitors in the first four months of 2024. This accounts for over 1.3 times the number of visitors during the same period last year. As of the end of 2023, the region had attracted a total of 6.5 million visitors. The number of overnight stays in accommodations reached 852,600 (a jump of 1.8 times), with a total of 936,300 visitor days (a 1.6-fold increase).

Tourism revenue in the province for the four-month cumulative period is estimated at over 4,621.2 billion VND, signifying a rise of 1.5 times compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

In anticipation of the influx of tourists, Ninh Binh has implemented comprehensive preparations. Notably, April will see a series of events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage recognition of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (2014-2024).

These events will serve as platforms for connecting and disseminating the value of the heritage, inspiring younger generations, and recognizing the contributions of individuals and organizations involved in the management, preservation, and promotion of heritage values.

In March, Ninh Binh hosted the Ninh Binh – Thanh Hoa – Nghe An – Ha Tinh Tourism Promotion Conference, themed “One Journey – Multiple Experiences.” The province also organized the 1,100th Birth Anniversary of Dinh Tien Hoang De (924-2024) and the 2024 Hoa Lu Festival, a three-day event held from April 17th to 19th (the 9th to 11th day of the third lunar month) at the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital National Special Relic Site.

Furthermore, the Hoa Lu Ancient Town regularly hosts traditional art performances featuring cheo (traditional opera), hat xam (folk singing), chau van (spirit possession rituals), and folk games. These activities enhance the tourist experience, immersing visitors in the scenic beauty of Ninh Binh’s mountains and waterways.
