Gold Price Takes Another Dip in Afternoon Trading

Gold prices in the domestic market witnessed a significant surge in the early hours of April 16th, with SJC gold and gold bars experiencing a sharp increase ranging from VND 700,000 to VND 1,000,000 per tael. However, the upward trend was short-lived, as prices took a downward turn later in the morning and continued to decline throughout the afternoon trading session.

At 2:50 p.m., SJC gold prices continued to correct down.

At Saigon Jewelry Company, SJC gold price reduced by VND 600,000 compared to the beginning of the morning, down to VND 81.7-83.7 million/tael. The price of plain gold rings of this brand remained unchanged, at VND 75-76.9 million/tael.

SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company decreased by VND 250,000 for buying and VND 450,000 for selling, currently at VND 81.7-83.65 million/tael. The price of plain gold rings decreased by more than VND 400,000, currently at VND 75.38-77.08 million/tael.

At DOJI Group, SJC gold price stood at VND 81.7-83.7 million/tael, down by VND 200,000 for buying and VND 500,000 for selling, narrowing the buying – selling gap to VND 2 million. The price of plain gold rings decreased by VND 950,000 per tael, currently standing at VND 74.6-75.8 million/tael.

At 11:30 a.m., SJC gold prices at businesses decreased slightly compared to this morning, hovering around VND 84 million/tael. 

Specifically, SJC gold price listed at Saigon Jewelry Company decreased by VND 300,000, currently at VND 82-84 million/tael. SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company decreased by VND 150,000 per tael, listed at VND 81.8-83.95 million/tael. Doji Group listed SJC gold price at VND 81.7-84 million/tael, decreasing by VND 200,000 every tael.

Meanwhile, the price of plain gold rings exhibited contrasting trends between brands. 

Specifically, the price of plain gold rings at Bao Tin Minh Chau increased by VND 280,000 compared to the beginning of the morning, currently standing at VND 75.56-77.29 million/tael. The price of plain rings at Saigon Jewelry remained unchanged, at VND 75-76.9 million/tael. On the contrary, the price of plain rings at DOJI Hanoi store decreased by up to VND 550,000 per tael, currently listed at VND 75-76.2 million per tael.

After the decline on the afternoon of April 15, SJC gold prices resumed an upward trend this morning. Updated at 9:30gold prices SJC listed at Saigon Jewelry Company stood at VND 82.3-84.3 million/tael, increasing by VND 700,000 for buying in and VND 1,000,000 for selling out compared to the same time yesterday morning. The price of plain rings was at VND 75-76.9 million/tael, up by VND 700,000 per tael. 

Bao Tin Minh Chau Company currently lists SJC gold price at VND 81.95-84.1 million/tael, up by around VND 1,000,000 per tael compared to the same time this morning. The price of plain gold rings also increased by VND 800,000 for buying in and VND 600,000 for selling out, currently standing at VND 75.28-76.98 million/tael.

Doji Group listed SJC gold price at VND 81.9-84.2 million per tael, increasing by VND 700,000 per tael compared to the previous morning session. The price of plain rings is currently listed at VND 75.55-77.45 million/each tael, increasing by an average of VND 1,000,000-1,200,000 per tael. 

Compared to the end of yesterday, SJC gold and ring prices are currently higher by around VND 300-700 thousand per tael.

Yesterday (April 15), the State Bank announced that it would organize a gold bullion auction session this week (April 15-19) at the Foreign Exchange Reserve Management Department, aiming to increase gold supply for the market. This is the first time in 11 years that the State Bank has resumed organizing gold bullion auctions. The latest move by the management agency is expected to impact gold prices.

In the international market, gold prices surged this morning, currently trading around USD 2,383/ounce, up by USD 29.6 compared to last night. Converted according to Vietcombank’s exchange rate, the world gold price is equivalent to nearly VND 72.7 million/tael (excluding taxes and fees). This price is VND 11.6 million lower than SJC gold in Vietnam for each tael.
