Prosecution and residential travel ban for former director of PVD Training

The Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police Department has initiated supplementary prosecution decisions to initiate the case prosecution, and also initiate legal proceedings against Bùi Thanh Vân, former director of PVD Technical Training Joint Stock Company.

On April 11, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau provincial police announced that the provincial police’s Investigation Agency had decided to initiate additional charges of “negligence causing serious consequences” and to prosecute and ban Bui Thanh Van – former director of PVD Technical Training Joint Stock Company (PVD Training, Dong Xuyen Industrial Zone, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province) from leaving his place of residence for the crime of “negligence causing serious consequences.”

Previously, in January 2024, the Investigation Agency had initiated a case of “embezzlement of property” occurring at the company and prosecuted and applied a measure to temporarily detain Nguyen Tran Bao Lan – Head of Technical Services Department of PVD Training Company.

PVD Training is a member company of the Drilling and Oil and Gas Services Joint Stock Corporation (PV Drilling), specializing in training and certification; human resources solutions and technical services including onshore and offshore safety solutions; maritime services; providing safety equipment products along with surveying, inspection, repair, maintenance, charging, solution design, and inspection services for safety and marine systems serving the oil and gas industry and heavy industries.

According to initial information, individuals of PVD Training Company who were prosecuted had signed contracts with “ghost” companies and signed authorizations for these companies, causing billions of dong in losses and misappropriation. In relation to the case, the investigating agency is clarifying the acts of buying and selling invoices and tax evasion.
