The Trần Hoàng Na Bridge in Cần Thơ City to Open for Traffic on April 30
On the morning of April 22, speaking to Tiền Phong newspaper, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Tho, Deputy Director of the ODA Project Management Board of Cần Thơ City (the investor), informed the Trần Hoàng Na Bridge had been accepted by the State Council and basically agreed to be put into operation. The investor is currently completing the remaining procedures to inaugurate the bridge on the upcoming April 30 holiday.
The Trần Hoàng Na Bridge project is a package of the Cần Thơ City Development and Urban Resilience Enhancement Project (Project 3), invested by the ODA Project Management Board of Cần Thơ City, with a total cost of nearly 800 billion VND. The project uses ODA loans from the World Bank (WB).
The bridge has a total length of 820m, of which the main bridge is nearly 600m long, spanning the Cần Thơ River, connecting the city center (Ninh Kiều District) with the southern urban areas and National Highway 1A (Cái Răng District). The bridge has 4 lanes, a width of 23m, a design speed of 60km/h, and is designed as an arch bridge with 3 spans of steel structure.
The Trần Hoàng Na Bridge was started in September 2020, and was initially scheduled to be completed in July 2022, but due to many reasons, its progress was delayed and it was later extended to the present. The investor is completing the procedures to put the project into service for people’s travel needs on the occasion of April 30.
Upon completion, the Trần Hoàng Na Bridge will contribute to connecting urban traffic between National Highway 1A and the central roads of Cần Thơ City, reducing traffic volume on the city’s main roads; contributing to reducing traffic congestion during peak hours.
