The lack of schools and hospitals is a common problem in major cities around the world, and Hanoi is no exception. Therefore, the capital is prioritizing the early completion of 4 large general hospitals at the city’s gateways, to reach the target of 30-35 beds per 10,000 people by 2025.

That is the plan, but in reality, many large-scale hospitals have been abandoned for decades despite having been completed, resulting in a waste of resources. One example is the America International Hospital Hanoi at 9 Chua Ha Street (Dich Vong, Cau Giay district).

It is known that the hospital construction project was granted an investment license in 1997 by Keystone Invest Group, with an investment capital of approximately 50 million USD (equivalent to more than 1,000 billion VND).

In 2001, the Hanoi People’s Committee decided to收回 9,998 m2 of land at 9 Chua Ha Street and allowed the hospital to rent 8,540m2 of land for 40 years.

In 2005, Hanoi lowered the high-voltage power line near the land plot of the America International Hospital Hanoi, and planned to transfer the land of the old power grid safety corridor to the hospital for use as a garden. However, as soon as the power line was lowered, many local households encroached on the land.

On July 27th, 2007, the project was started, and on September 1st, 2010, the rough structure was completed.

In 2012, the building of the America International Hospital Hanoi was basically completed.

The project has a total floor area of 27,000m2 with a capacity of 300 beds and a 5-star international standard.
