Transforming into a “Trendy Destination”
With Thanh Hoa’s tourism industry, the Sam Son travel guide has only truly expanded and adorned with new vibrant colors since the Sam Son Sea Square debuted in 2023.
The most memorable moment is witnessing the long lines of cars and crowds gathering at the sea square to stroll, watch the water music performance, and experience the bursting emotions during the opening night of the 2023 Sea Tourism Festival with fireworks illuminating the Sam Son sky. With over 300,000 visitors flocking in on that night, Sam Son became a highlight in the Vietnamese tourism landscape during the summer of 2023.
This impressive image is expected to be re-enacted and amplified during the upcoming 30/4 – 1/5 holiday. Hundreds of thousands of tourists will eagerly await the opening night of the 2024 Sam Son Sea Tourism Festival, which will feature top stars and a magnificent fireworks display on April 27th.
Sam Son continues to hold its position as one of the top destinations for holidays and weekends. Today, the Sam Son experience “menu” extends beyond swimming in the sea and enjoying seafood. It now includes participating in festivals and cultural and artistic events taking place around the clock.
With a total area of less than 45km2, Sam Son’s approximate 8 million visitors in 2023 is a figure that any tourist destination would envy. In 2024, even before entering the peak season, Sam Son has welcomed nearly 1 million visitors and aims for 8.5 million by the end of the year.
Sam Son beach bustles with activity every summer
For a long time now, people have stopped asking what it is about Sam Son that the French called “the most ideal resort in Indochina,” and what it is that every child in the North considers a cherished memory. Those questions have given way to curiosity about Sam Son’s transformative journey towards becoming a trendy destination and the most captivating entertainment and relaxation hotspot in the country.
Infrastructure “Taking Flight”
According to experts, the answer lies in Thanh Hoa’s successful invitation to Vietnam’s tourism “giants” to tackle the infrastructure puzzle, thereby contributing to elevating the “coastal gem” of Thanh Hoa. Over the past 2 years, to develop tourism infrastructure, the city has mobilized over 24,000 billion VND for several major projects.
These include the sea square and the largest festival landscape axis in Vietnam, bustling shopping districts, and unique water music shows that take place weekly.
Water music show in Sam Son attracts tourists
The world-class water music show is an exquisite blend of music and light, using German water jet technology with 300 nozzles and has become a trademark of Sam Son. The show features various themes such as “Soaring Radiance,” “Rendezvous with the Sun,” “Symphony of the Sea,” and “Melody of Love,” offering viewers an impressive and mesmerizing experience.
Along with countless festival events that have breathed life into Sam Son in recent times, the entertainment experience in this coastal city will soon become even more captivating when the Sun World Sam Son complex, invested by Sun Group, opens its doors at the end of May.
With the presence of Sun World Holding – Vietnam’s leading entertainment brand – Sam Son tourism is predicted to continue “exploding.” News of Sun World Sam Son’s arrival has also excited investors and businesses, who are swiftly formulating plans for accommodation and commercial services to meet the anticipated “skyrocketing” demand from tourists.
“Our hotel rooms have been fully booked well in advance of holidays and Tet. With the addition of the Sun World park, there will undoubtedly be an influx of visitors to Sam Son, so we are considering plans to increase our accommodation capacity near the sea square,” said Minh Tuan, the owner of a hotel in Sam Son.
Sun World Sam Son complex is expected to open from the end of May 2024
In addition, the investment in modern and synchronized transportation infrastructure helps to reduce the distance between Sam Son – a major entertainment and festival “coordinate” in the northern region – and tourists from all directions. After the official completion of two North-South expressways through Thanh Hoa, Sam Son has become a “weekend getaway” destination for Hanoi residents, who can now drive there in a little over 2.5 hours. Simultaneously, Tho Xuan Airport has been planned to become an international airport with a capacity of approximately 5 million passengers annually by 2030, making it ready to place Sam Son on the map of must-visit destinations for international tourists arriving in Vietnam.
In addition to inter-regional and international connectivity, Sam Son is also focusing on investing in inner-city transportation infrastructure, such as Thanh Nien Road, Tay Sam Son 5 Road, Hai Ba Trung Road, and Nam Song Ma Boulevard.
From the planning springboard and the substantial investment in transportation infrastructure to the emergence of leading private economic corporations like Sun Group, Sam Son tourism is predicted to enter a phase of transformative growth, establishing itself as an upscale destination rich in experiences and vibrant throughout the year.
Tourism Drives Real Estate
With the accelerated development of tourism, it is easy to envision that upscale accommodation infrastructure such as 5-star resorts and luxurious serviced apartments will be the next “puzzle piece” needed to complete the picture of the Sam Son urban landscape.
Sam Son’s infrastructure is being increasingly upgraded and modernized
Currently, real estate investors in the northern region are swiftly recognizing the new opportunities in the most dynamic coastal city in the area. Observations suggest that projects “in the spotlight” are targeting the segment of coastal apartments with the potential for value appreciation and convenient business operations. For example, the coastal high-rise project in Sam Son, which is “preparing” to be introduced, is The Pathway, situated right at the Sea Square and the Sam Son festival landscape axis.
According to sources, The Pathway will be a pioneering high-rise apartment project complex along the Sam Son coastline. The emergence of this project is attracting significant interest from the affluent in Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, and neighboring provinces and cities.
World-class projects ranging from tourism and infrastructure to real estate are taking shape one after another, promising to continue to create a new, modern lifestyle and business environment for residents, enhancing the urban landscape, and transforming Sam Son into a leading tourist destination in the country. Consequently, owners of service and accommodation businesses and Sam Son real estate will be the primary beneficiaries, with their revenue and profit streams experiencing continuous growth.
