The information was released by the Party Central Committee Office shortly after the conference on the afternoon of April 26.

The Central Committee assessed that Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue is a key leader of the Party and the State, having received basic training and matured from the grassroots level; assigned to hold many important leadership positions of the Party and the State. However, according to the report of the Central Inspection Committee and relevant agencies, he violated the Regulations on Prohibited Acts for Party Members, the Regulations on Exemplary Responsibility of Cadres and Party Members, primarily Politburo members, Secretariat members, members of the Party Central Executive Committee, and took responsibility as the head following the regulations of the Party and the law of the State.

The violations and shortcomings mentioned above “have caused bad publicity, affecting the prestige of the Party, the State, and the individual”. Recognizing his responsibility before the Party, the State, and the people, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue has submitted a request to resign from his assigned positions and retire.

The National Assembly Chairman is elected by the National Assembly delegates at the first session of the term. Therefore, after the extraordinary Central Committee meeting today, the National Assembly will implement the dismissal procedure for Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue.

Four days ago, Mr. Pham Thai Ha, 48 years old, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office, Assistant to the National Assembly Chairman, was arrested on charges of taking advantage of his position and power to influence others for personal gain.

Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue is 67 years old; professor, doctor of economics; from Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. He is a member of the Politburo for two terms 12, 13; Member of the Party Central Committee for four terms 10-13; National Assembly delegate for three terms 13-15.

He has 22 years of teaching and management experience at Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting (now the Academy of Finance) before serving as State Auditor General (2006-2011), Minister of Finance (2011-2013), Head of the Central Economic Commission (2012-2016), Deputy Prime Minister (2016-2020).

In February 2020, Mr. Hue was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and in March 2021, he was elected Chairman of the National Assembly.
