‘Big Punch’ to Propel Ben Tre towards Future Growth

Currently, Ben Tre province is preparing conditions in anticipation of starting the construction of Ba Lai 8 bridge and the coastal route in the second quarter. At the same time, if the conditions are sufficient, the construction of the Blue Hydro plant will continue. Implementation of Major Projects

According to the Provincial Party Secretary, Ho Thi Hoang Yen, in the first quarter of 2024, local governments and organizations have proactively guided and implemented the execution of the Provincial Party Committee Resolution for 2024 and the action motto “Democracy – Discipline – Consensus – Innovation – Development” throughout the political system.

Simultaneously, this has been incorporated into the “New Dong Khoi” emulation campaign for the two-year period of 2024-2025. This has created a dynamic atmosphere from the beginning of the year, contributing to positive mindset shifts and actions among cadres and party members to fulfill their assigned roles and responsibilities.

As a result, the estimated growth rate for Region 1 is 1.63%. The province has established 67 cooperatives, 78 unions, and four linkage groups that have joined the value chains of key agricultural products, achieving positive results.

Agricultural production has advanced, utilizing scientific and technological advancements, clean production in accordance with organic standards, GAP, and equivalents, covering an area of 24,640 hectares; the province has 17 domestic growing area codes with a total area of 808.51 hectares.

Industrial and small-scale handicraft production activities continue to recover. During the quarter, Region II grew by 5.53%, showcasing a positive trend among the three regions; reaching 990 billion VND, an increase of 6.45% compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, major infrastructure projects within Bentre province continue to receive investment and progress; rural transport infrastructure development is also a priority.

During the quarter, 16.8 km of roads were built, renovated, and upgraded. Furthermore, the province is cooperating to finalize the report on the pre-feasibility study for the Đình Khao Bridge Investment and Construction Project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Rạch Miễu Bridge 2, the coastal road section passing through Bentre; the Combined Road and Dyke Project for Salinity Prevention in the districts of Mo Cay Nam – Thanh Phu; the Dyke for Salinity Prevention combined with connecting roads in the coastal districts of Binh Dai – Ba Tri – Thanh Phu (Phase 2); the road from Giao Long port to Phu Thuan Industrial Park; the North-South Road for Phu Thuan Industrial Park and Phong Nam Industrial Cluster; etc. are all under development and progressing swiftly.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, Chairman of the Bentre Provincial People’s Committee, stated that in 2024, the province will undertake transformative projects such as the Rạch Miễu Bridge 2, which is set to acquire land and has a favorable progress, with the Ministry of Transport determined to complete it in 2025. In addition, the infrastructure of Phu Thuan Industrial Park will be built for handover to investors.

Furthermore, the Bentre Provincial Planning for the period from now to 2030 with a vision towards 2050 has been approved by the Government, emphasizing eastward development and land reclamation of 50,000 hectares.

This will pave the way for industrial and cluster development, wind and clean energy projects, etc. Hence, creating a significant corridor and new opportunities for Bentre’s future development.

According to the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, preparations are currently underway for the scheduled commencement of the Ba Lai 8 Bridge and the coastal road in the second quarter. Moreover, if conditions permit, the Hydro Green Plant construction will also commence.

“This is a key focus for the province, and meticulous preparations are being made to execute it as a significant impetus for Bentre’s development in 2024, alongside numerous other projects and initiatives within the province,” emphasized the Chairman.

Launch of the “New Dong Khoi” Emulation Campaign

According to Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, the Provincial Standing Committee will continue to strengthen its leadership in promoting the implementation of the targets and objectives outlined in the 2024 Provincial Party Committee Resolution.

Effective implementation of the “New Dong Khoi” emulation drive is also a priority. This includes developing regulations for policies supporting tourism development during the 2025-2030 period and regulations governing the management model for provincial-level tourist areas in Bentre.

The Provincial Standing Committee will finalize the Implementation Plan for the Bentre Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2050 and submit it to the Prime Minister for approval. Thorough preparation and organization for the 2024 Investment Promotion Conference, coinciding with the commencement of the Ba Lai 8 Bridge construction on the coastal road, will be carried out.

Moreover, providing support and addressing challenges faced by businesses will be a key focus; as will be the implementation plan for the Đồng Khởi Startup and Enterprise Development Program in 2024.
