Thanh Hoa Welcomes New Billion-Dollar “Mega-Project,” Creating Over 3,000 Jobs

The OSB bamboo board manufacturing factory in staBOO Thanh Hoa will be implemented in Thiet Ong commune, Ba Thuoc district. The project has an investment capital of nearly VND 3,200 billion and is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has recently approved the investment project for an OSB bamboo board production plant in Thiet Ong commune, Ba Thuoc district.

The project will be invested in by staBOO Thanh Hoa Joint Stock Company and will be located at Km82 of National Highway 15A, Thiet Ong commune, Ba Thuoc district, on a land area of over 26 hectares, with an investment capital of nearly VND 3,200 billion.

The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will include the construction of a bamboo chipping house, a crushing house, a drying house, a boiler house, a boiler auxiliary, a production workshop + distribution room for the input transformer station, a shipping pit, a biomass warehouse, a sawdust warehouse, a large bamboo storage warehouse, a small bamboo storage warehouse, a surface finishing workshop, a production auxiliary house, a water pumping station, a water tank, a wastewater treatment area, a weighing house, a physical house, a guardhouse, etc. The second phase of the project will include the construction of a guardhouse and infrastructure and related auxiliary works.

The project will enjoy investment incentives and supports in accordance with current legal regulations if the investor complies with the registration dossier and meets all the required conditions. The Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee will assign relevant departments, sectors, and localities to actively support the enterprise in order to complete the investment procedures and implement the project.

Regarding the aforementioned project, in January 2024, on the occasion of the 2024 WEF Davos conference in Switzerland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with leaders of several large corporations and enterprises in order to call for and promote investment in Vietnam.

The head of the Vietnamese Government met with leaders of staBOO Holdings AG, a subsidiary of BARD AG, which specializes in researching, developing, and manufacturing high-end interior products. This entity is cooperating to invest in building a factory to produce particleboard and OSB plywood from bamboo in Vietnam. Mr. Marcus Bards, Chairman of the Board of Directors of staBOO Holdings AG, and his associates praised the investment environment in Vietnam.

According to him, Vietnam has great potential for developing the interior industry, especially from bamboo and rattan raw materials. Therefore, staBOO Holdings AG wants to invest long-term in Vietnam and will apply modern technology, reduce carbon emissions, meet Vietnam’s green and sustainable development requirements, and introduce Vietnamese bamboo and rattan products to the world.

Welcoming the cooperation direction, the Prime Minister stated that this will help increase the value of bamboo and rattan and raise the income of bamboo and rattan growers, while also using modern technology and processing products in an environmentally friendly manner for export to the world.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is prioritizing projects with advanced technology, new technology, high technology, clean technology, modern management, high added value, and spillover effects that connect the global production and supply chain.

Therefore, during the implementation of the project, he asked staBOO Holdings AG to comply with environmental regulations, train local workers, and support Vietnamese businesses in participating in the company’s global production and supply chain.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed staBOO Holdings AG and Sao Thai Duong Investment Joint Stock Company sign a Memorandum of Understanding on investment cooperation to build a factory producing particleboard and OSB plywood from bamboo in Thanh Hoa province with a total investment of VND 3,000 billion and a capacity of 225,000 m3 of products per year. The project is expected to consume 1,000-2,000 tons of bamboo per day and create over 3,000 jobs.
