In June 2023, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province issued a decision on the approval of the list of investment projects using land to organize the selection of investors to implement the An Tay River Port project (located in Ben Cat town).
The project has a scale of over 100 hectares, with an estimated total capital of about 2,300 billion VND.
Following that, the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Duong province posted the information about the An Tay River Port on the National Bidding website of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
After extending the deadline for submitting applications twice, so far, the competent authority of Binh Duong province has not received any files from investors.
A leader of the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Duong province said that the An Tay River Port project is very large and difficult to implement, hence being selective of investors.
Recently, Becamex IDC Corporation has sent a document to the People’s Committee of the province, proposing the policy of conducting research, survey, and preparing a proposal for the An Tay dry port – urban area investment project.
According to this proposal, the An Tay River Port has a scale of about 180 hectares, in which the port area is about 97 hectares, and the urban-resettlement area is about 83 hectares.
At a meeting in mid-April 2024, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province assigned the People’s Committee of Ben Cat town to study and add the function of An Tay dry port to a multimodal port (a passenger port combined with a cargo port) and update it into the Binh Duong province plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
According to the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province, when building the An Tay River Port, Binh Duong aims to form a logistics service chain to transport goods from the provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, and the Central Highlands region to Cat Lai port (Ho Chi Minh City) and Cai Mep – Thi Vai (Ba Ria – Vung Tau), avoiding traffic congestion on roads.
The An Tay River Port has an advantageous location connecting to most industrial parks, avoiding traffic congestion in the area connecting to Ho Chi Minh City, and conveniently connecting by waterway to Cat Lai and Cai Mep ports. At the same time, it creates a closed logistics service area to effectively utilize the multimodal transportation infrastructure system, reduce logistics costs, and promote local industrial production in the province as well as in the Southeast region.
