In late April, Honda Japan officially released a mid-cycle update for the Vezel – an SUV better known internationally as the HR-V.

The design changes to the Honda HR-V facelift were revealed in mid-March and were relatively minor. The exterior headlights look the same, but the lighting system has been upgraded internally to allow for beam cutoff and anti-glare for oncoming drivers.

The most noticeable change to the exterior of the 2024 Honda HR-V comes at the rear, with new taillights that resemble those of some Porsche models like the Macan or Cayenne. Another detail that helps distinguish the old and new HR-V is the overall appearance of the front “grille”.

Inside the cabin of the 2024 Honda HR-V, several minor changes have been made to improve practicality and convenience. Front passengers can now easily use the wireless phone charging pad located between the center console and the infotainment screen, as the space there has been widened. Additionally, the console trim that previously extended to the driver’s side has been rounded off into a closed area.

The powertrain of the 2024 Honda HR-V remains the same, with a 1.5L gasoline engine that produces 98 horsepower and 127 Nm of torque, paired with a single electric motor that generates 109 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque. Honda only mentioned that the company has “improved engine sounds during urban driving” while ensuring a more responsive driving experience.

In terms of safety, the Honda Sensing suite of technologies on the 2024 Honda HR-V has been enhanced with the addition of Traffic Jam Assist, which aids in steering at low speeds. The誤発防止制御機能 (avoidance control function) prevents the car from accidentally accelerating when the accelerator is pressed.

With this update, the company has added a “pseudo-off-road” configuration called HUNT to the HR-V, giving it a more rugged and tough appearance. Some new features on this version include a ceiling-mounted cargo rack, silver side mirror caps, and orange accents around the fog lights and front bumper guard. The interior of this version also features additional storage space on the center console.

The updated starting price for the 2024 Honda HR-V is 2,648,800 yen (425.2 million VND), compared to 2,279,200 yen (365.9 million VND) when the car was launched in 2021. This price will not remain the same if the update arrives in Vietnam. This is because the Honda HR-V is currently being distributed with a price starting from 699 million VND.
