Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board said that during the 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1, the contractors participating in the construction of Long Thanh Airport mobilized 5,000 workers along with thousands of vehicles and machines to work day and night.
Mr. Duong Quang Dien – Deputy Permanent Director of Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board, said that the progress of construction packages is currently very good. According to the forecast, in about a month, Dong Nai will enter the rainy season. Therefore, in the remaining period of the dry season, contractors are also focusing on speeding up the progress.
The construction throughout the holiday is to take advantage of the favorable weather of the dry season, striving to speed up the progress of the project.
During the holidays, the contractors coordinated with the Board to arrange a suitable construction frequency. Specifically, at the construction site, workers, engineers still work in 3 shifts of 4 groups, spread across many items such as passenger terminal, connecting traffic routes, and runways.
“In about a month, the weather in Dong Nai will enter the rainy season, by which time construction will be more difficult. In the remaining days of the 2023-2024 dry season, the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board has directed contractors to focus on mobilizing manpower and machinery to speed up the progress of the items,” said Mr. Dien.
During the day, they focus on making iron and steel, digging and leveling the ground, pouring sand, and making floors. From around 4 pm to the next morning, the passenger terminal, runway… areas will be concreted.
For the passenger terminal item, the contractor is focusing on pouring concrete for the first floor; the runway is deploying crushed stone, concrete; the air traffic control tower has completed pouring concrete for the body to a height of nearly 70m; the 2 connecting traffic routes have completed many main work items.
Currently, Long Thanh Airport is implementing 4 major packages including the passenger terminal, the runway, 2 connecting traffic routes (route T1, T2) and the air traffic control tower.
“For the two most important packages of the project, which are building the runway and the passenger terminal, the contractors are focusing on the construction of crushed stone and concrete. For the passenger terminal project, the contractors are focusing on pouring concrete on the first floor of the project,” Mr. Dien informed.
