Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that today, May 1st, the airport is expected to operate 693 flights (343 departing flights and 350 arriving flights), corresponding to more than 110,000 passengers, of which nearly 50,000 passengers will depart and more than 60,000 will arrive.

This figure is only slightly higher than on a normal day. As the number of passengers is not too high and not concentrated at the same time, the areas in the domestic and international terminals were clear and uncrowded this morning.

During the 5 days of the April 30th holiday, only the first day (April 27th) saw the number of passengers exceeding 115,000, while the remaining days were lower than this level. The airport did not record any local congestion during the 5 days of the holiday.

A small survey by reporters of the Newspaper of Laborers about the needs of Ho Chi Minh City residents during the April 30th holiday this year showed that many said that airfares were too high, so they switched to traveling to nearby destinations such as Vung Tau, Ho Tram, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, etc. by personal vehicle.

In addition, the prolonged hot weather also meant that many families chose to stay in Ho Chi Minh City during the holiday.

Some travel companies also said that the demand for land and railway tours increased as airfares remained high.
