On April 26, the Central Committee convened an extraordinary meeting and agreed to allow Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue to resign as a member of the Politburo, a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and Chairman of the 15th National Assembly, according to his personal request.

As a key leader of the Party and state, Mr. Hue “was trained and matured from the grassroots level”. However, according to a report from the Central Inspection Committee, he has violated three regulations of the Party: what party members are not allowed to do, regulations on exemplary responsibilities and responsibilities of a leader.

This “has caused a bad reputation, affecting the prestige of the Party, the state and the individual”. Mr. Hue has submitted a request to resign from his positions and retire from work.

Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue is 67 years old; he is a professor, doctor of economics; from Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. He was a member of the Politburo for two terms 12 and 13; member of the Party Central Committee for four terms 10-13; National Assembly delegate for three terms 13-15.

Before being elected as Chairman of the National Assembly in March 2021, he held various positions: State Auditor General, Minister of Finance, Head of the Central Economic Commission, Deputy Prime Minister, and Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee.

According to the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, the National Assembly meets twice a year. In the event that the President of the Republic, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister or at least one third of the total number of delegates request it, the National Assembly shall convene an extraordinary meeting. The 15th National Assembly has had 6 extraordinary sessions, of which 4 have been organized to consider and decide high-level personnel.
