In July 2023, the Hanoi People’s Committee approved the investment plan for the project to upgrade the Provincial Road 429 (section through Phu Xuyen district). The project has a total investment of approximately 360 billion VND, with funding from the city budget. The implementation period is from 2023 to 2025.
According to the design, the road will be upgraded and expanded with a 21 m wide roadbed. The starting point of the project is at Km5 + 160 in Phuong Duc commune, on the border with Nghiem Xuyen commune (Thuong Tin district), and the ending point is at Km12 + 336.7 at the end of Phu Tuc commune on the border with Quang Phu Cau commune (Ung Hoa district).
Currently, the Phu Xuyen District People’s Committee is urgently deploying steps to prepare for construction in the second quarter of 2024, in order to complete the project on schedule and put it into use.
The Provincial Road 429 section through Phu Xuyen district is approximately 7-8 m wide (including both directions). As it is a major traffic route in the south of Hanoi, Provincial Road 429 always receives hundreds of trucks, containers, etc. passing through each day.
According to local residents, despite the narrow road, many trucks, containers, etc. still drive very fast both day and night, causing anxiety for road users.
Hanoi is expected to start construction on the Provincial Road 429 Upgrade Project in the second quarter of 2024. Once the road is widened, it is expected to improve traffic flow and contribute to the economic and social development of the southern region.
