The Deo But Tunnel is a highlight of the Vung Ang – Bung Expressway, connecting the provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh. The tunnel has two tubes with lengths of 716 m and 840 m.
Each tunnel is 8 m high, 15 m wide, and has three lanes as well as expansion points. The contractor plans to complete the right-hand tunnel branch this May.
These days, the construction unit is mobilizing manpower and machinery to focus on the construction of the Deo But Tunnel, ensuring three shifts with four teams.
The construction unit representative stated that it becomes more difficult to construct the tunnel as they go deeper. Therefore, the lighting and ventilation systems are always prioritized to ensure working conditions for the engineers and workers inside. “The tunnel still needs about 100 m on the left and over 150 m on the right. The unit is using four robotic drilling machines, modern equipment, and hundreds of workers continuously. The tunnel is expected to be completed in May,” reported an engineer in charge of the Deo But Tunnel construction.
To support tunnel drilling, excavators and diggers are brought into the tunnel to clear the mud and remove earth and waste rock.
Overpass No. 5 has completed the beam system connecting to the right branch of the Deo But Tunnel. This part is expected to be concreted in May.
In addition to the Deo But Tunnel, the contractors are laying the C25 hollow asphalt concrete layer.
On the main route, the contractor has basically completed the underground drainage system, civil culverts, and crushed stone distribution at several locations.
At the construction site of the bridge leading over the Kim Son Reservoir (Ky Hoa Commune, Ky Anh Town), the contractor is accelerating the progress of the overpass and lake overpass.
At the Ba Vong Slope leveling construction site, Ky Tan Commune, Ky Anh Town, the slope is being reinforced. The hill, which had to be lowered by 60 m, is now only about 2 m. The unit’s construction progress has exceeded 60%. Hundreds of machines, workers, and three work shifts are carrying out the construction contract as planned.
The National Highway 12 intersection through Ky Tan Commune, Ky Anh Town, has taken shape. The contractor is completing the overpass and highway access and exit points.
