According to information from the April 2024 regular meeting of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province, the province’s import-export activities achieved many positive results in the first four months of the year.

MORE THAN 400 ENTERPRISES REGISTER TO CEASE OPERATIONS

The Industrial Production Index (IIP) in Thua Thien Hue Province in April 2024 is estimated to have increased by 4% compared to the same period last year; the accumulated growth in the first four months is estimated to be 1.9% year-on-year. In particular, the mining industry is estimated to have decreased by 3.3%; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 5.9%; the electricity and ice production and distribution industry decreased by 26.2%; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 12.9%.

Some of Thua Thien Hue’s main products with increased output compared to the same period last year include: Beer at 105.3 million liters, up 4.2% year-on-year; cement at 499.2 thousand tons, up 0.9%; fiber of all kinds at 35.9 thousand tons, up 11.5%; underwear at 129.5 million products, up 6.8%; wood chips at 242.4 thousand tons, up 48.1%; commercial electricity at 625.6 million KWh, up 4%…

In the first four months of this year, Thua Thien Hue had 281 newly established enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 1,512.2 billion, an increase of 6.4% in quantity and 7.1% in capital compared to the same period last year. The number of enterprises resuming operations was 150 enterprises, an increase of 3 enterprises. However, the number of enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations in the province was up to 431 enterprises, an increase of 123 enterprises; the number of dissolved enterprises was 41 enterprises, a decrease of 188 enterprises compared to the same period.

Since the beginning of the year, Thua Thien Hue has granted new licenses to 19 investment projects with a total registered capital of VND 5,272.5 billion, including 8 FDI projects with a total capital of USD 33.2 million. Compared to the same period, the number of investment projects in the first four months of 2024 increased by 12 projects and the registered capital increased by more than VND 4,100 billion.

Export turnover is estimated at USD 351 million, import turnover is estimated at USD 292 million, increasing by 7.1% and 44% respectively compared to the same period last year. The total retail sales of goods and consumer services is estimated at VND 17,881 billion, an increase of 12.3% compared to the same period.

Tourism activities in Thua Thien Hue continue to have many positive developments, maintaining a positive recovery momentum. The province’s total tourism revenue in the past four months is estimated at VND 2,595 billion, an increase of 10% compared to the same period and an increase of 71.2% compared to 2019. During the 5-day holiday alone, Thua Thien Hue is expected to welcome about 110,000 tourists, an increase of 15.8% and an increase of 9.7% in tourism revenue compared to the same period. Notably, for the first time, the province has entered the top 8 most budget-friendly tourist destinations in Asia.

BUDGET REVENUE OF NEARLY VND 4,000 BILLION

In the first four months of 2024, Thua Thien Hue’s budget revenue is estimated at VND 3,950 billion, equivalent to 33.5% of the estimate, 29% of the target, and an increase of 19% compared to the same period. In which, domestic revenue is estimated at VND 3,585.5 billion, equivalent to 32.1% of the estimate, 27.8% of the target, and an increase of 15.5%; revenue from import and export activities is estimated at VND 361 billion, equivalent to 58.2% of the estimate, 52.3% of the target, and an increase of 68.2%. State budget expenditure is estimated at VND 3,738 billion, equivalent to 23% of the estimate, of which development investment expenditure is VND 1,110.5 billion, equivalent to 19% of the estimate.

According to the report of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province, the disbursement of the 2024 public investment plan of the province assigned by the Prime Minister up to the time of reporting is VND 982.383 billion/VND 6,257.879 billion, reaching 15.7% of the plan, ranking 29/63 provinces and cities according to data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Specifically, local budget capital: disbursed VND 555.751 billion/ VND 4,342.226 billion, reaching 13% of the plan. Domestic central budget capital: disbursed VND 310.506 billion/VND 1,340.653 billion, reaching 23.2% of the plan. Foreign central budget capital (ODA): disbursed VND 116.126 billion/VND 575 billion, reaching 20% of the plan.

Regarding the investment and construction situation, in the first four months of 2024, Thua Thien Hue’s total social investment capital is estimated at VND 7,601 billion, equivalent to 22.3% of the plan, an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period. Specifically, by management level: capital managed by the Central Government is VND 1,655 billion, equivalent to 22.2% of the plan, an increase of 2.6%; capital managed by the locality is VND 5,946 billion, equivalent to 22.3% of the plan, an increase of 4.7%.
