Located in the eastern part of Thanh Hoa province, approximately 15 kilometers from Thanh Hoa City, Sam Son City is the smallest city in Vietnam, covering an area of less than 45 square kilometers. However, Sam Son is a place with numerous tourist attractions, and in 2023 alone, the city welcomed a record number of visitors, nearly 8 million (accounting for about 2/3 of Thanh Hoa province), with total revenue estimated to reach nearly 14,300 billion VND.

Capitalizing on its tourism potential, the coastal city of Sam Son has continuously attracted numerous “big players” to invest in tourism projects, with a total investment capital of up to tens of thousands of billions of VND. The most recent project is the appearance of Sun Group with its Sea Square project and the Sam Son ecological urban tourism, resort, and entertainment complex. The total investment capital amounts to nearly 25,000 billion VND (approximately one billion USD).

The project includes the construction of: Sea Square, Sam Son City’s festival landscape axis, and corresponding projects with a total scale of approximately 550 hectares (Sam Son Sea Square Urban Area, Sam Son Do River Eco-Resort Urban Area, Nam Song Ma River Amusement Park and Urban Area).

Among them, the Sea Square and Sam Son City’s festival landscape axis have been inaugurated and officially put into operation during the 2024 Sea Tourism Festival, which was held on the recent April 30th holiday.

This is a large-scale project, with a square covering an area of 2 hectares and a capacity of about 10,000 people. The festival landscape axis is 2.6 kilometers long and 120 meters wide, connecting the Sea Square to the Nam Song Ma Boulevard.

Together with key projects such as the water music show, the Rooster-Hen Islet model, and decorative trees featuring the Dong Son Bronze Drum motif, the Sam Son Sea Square has become a venue for organizing major cultural, art, and event activities in the Thanh Hoa region and throughout the country, and is likened to a “slice of Singapore in the heart of Sam Son”.

Adjacent to the Sea Square is the Sun Grand Boulevard Urban Area. This project features 4-5 story commercial townhouses designed for both residential and commercial purposes. Currently, many rows of shophouses have been put into operation, providing services such as restaurants and hotels to serve tourists.

Soon, the high-rise apartment complex The Pathway, located right next to the square and offering a sea view, will be completed, perfecting the urban landscape of Sam Son and meeting the demand for upscale accommodation for high-end guests.

Next, at the end of this May, one of the latest projects for Sam Son sea tourism, also invested by Sun Group, will be put into operation – the outdoor amusement and entertainment complex (Sun World Sam Son park). The complex includes a water park and a theme park, covering a total area of over 33.5 hectares. The total investment for the first phase is over 1,500 billion VND.

This is an outdoor amusement park complex with a scale and area that are among the largest in Northern Vietnam. In the first phase, water park facilities will be put into operation, serving local residents and tourists with activities such as wave pools, lazy rivers, and thrilling rides.

Other projects by Sun Group that are being built will contribute to completing the group’s tourism ecosystem in Sam Son, such as the Sun Riverside Village eco-resort complex by the Do River, covering an area of 29 hectares near the Nam Song Ma Boulevard, just 20 minutes away from Thanh Hoa City.

In addition to Sun Group’s projects, Sam Son has also attracted several other investors in tourism projects, such as: FLC Samson Beach & Golf Resort; and the coastal space project on the eastern side of Ho Xuan Huong Street.
