“The use of stickers in online conversations has become an engaging way for people to express themselves and connect with others. On various social media and online chat platforms like Messenger, Zalo, Viber, and Telegram, users can easily download diverse sticker packs that cater to their expressive needs. Recognizing this potential, businesses have started to create their own unique sticker sets to increase customer engagement and brand recognition.

Stickers first gained popularity on Line, a mobile messaging app developed by Naver for the Japanese market. Combining popular emojis with distinct Japanese-style cartoon characters, these stickers offered a fun alternative to typing out text messages in Japanese. The concept quickly caught on, contributing significantly to Line’s growing user base.

As technology and mobile devices evolved, so did the way people communicate. Online messaging apps like Zalo, Messenger, Viber, and Telegram became widely adopted, and stickers naturally found their way into these digital conversations. According to a survey by Duolingo and Slack, 57% of respondents believe that online conversations feel “incomplete” without emojis. Moreover, 67% feel a stronger sense of connection when messaging someone who understands the stickers they use.
