A Decade of Exceptional Industrial Development
Vietnam is making significant strides in attracting FDI, with numerous industrial projects taking shape. Foreign investors acknowledge the country’s favorable business environment, skilled workforce, digital infrastructure, and developed physical infrastructure. Emphasizing green elements and sustainable building materials will further enhance Vietnam’s appeal for new foreign investments.
In line with economic growth, Vietnamese industrial architecture has witnessed remarkable progress over the last decade. The Industrial Architecture Awards 2024 couldn’t have come at a better time to address the lack of recognition for industrial architecture in the current context.
At the awards launch event, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tan, CEO of Sagen, representing design consulting firms, highlighted the positive signals in the industrial real estate sector over the past two years. With 420 industrial zones and export processing zones across the country, a 60% occupancy rate, and contributing 40% to GDP, this information is invaluable for industrial designers, underscoring the importance of industrial architecture in achieving full occupancy and GDP growth.
He added, “Through the launch of the Industrial Architecture Awards, I believe the organizers have created a creative platform for consulting firms and architects to showcase their proud projects.”
The message of “Joining Hands to Elevate Vietnamese Industrial Architecture” has resonated strongly with the architecture and industrial design consulting community since its inception.
Also present at the event, Associate Professor, Architect Truong Thanh Hai, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, shared, “The competition will create an exciting atmosphere of competition in the architectural realm – a gathering of industrial architecture talents with diverse styles and approaches. We are now accepting submissions from projects across the country.”
A Competition to Celebrate Vietnamese Industrial Architecture Kicks Off
The awards mark a turning point in guiding industrial architecture towards new trends: breaking free in creative spaces in construction materials to adapt to the sustainability demands of contemporary industry.
According to Mr. Do Huu Nhat Quang, Business Development Director of GREENVIET Green Construction Consulting Company, “This is an excellent opportunity to elevate Vietnamese industrial architecture. While previously, projects focused primarily on functionality, the market trend now leans towards aesthetically pleasing and sustainable developments that incorporate green solutions, energy and water efficiency, and waste reduction. Even the construction materials used must be environmentally friendly and optimized for superior performance compared to conventional materials. Design consulting firms should seize this opportunity to participate, network, and gain valuable insights from high-quality, creative project designs.”
Representing BlueScope, a spokesperson shared, “We believe that creating long-lasting and inspiring designs can shape how we live and work better, and allow us to maximize space with aesthetic and sustainable elements.”
Submissions for the awards will be accepted until August 16, 2024, with no limit on the number of entries.
The entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
50% of the score will be based on unique, impressive, creative, modern, and humane design.
30% will come from works that innovatively apply steel materials to showcase design identity and functionality.
20% will be allocated for sustainability, prioritizing green projects that are environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and bring socio-economic benefits.
