As of early July 2024, the Vietnamese automobile market witnessed a wave of promotions and discounts on luxury and affordable cars from both manufacturers and dealers, with the highest reduction reaching up to nearly VND 500 million.
Notably, in the B-segment sedan category, various models are also offering competitive promotions to attract consumers and boost sales. This month, many cars have received increased incentives from manufacturers, driving down prices to as low as VND 400 million.
Honda Vietnam (HVN) recently announced a promotional program for its automobile models from July 5 to 31. Among them, the B-segment sedan – Honda City – stands out with the most attractive offer. The G and L versions are both exempt from registration fees, equivalent to a reduction of VND 55 million and VND 58 million, respectively.
Additionally, the Honda City RS version is offered a 50% discount on registration fees, amounting to VND 30 million. Customers who purchase the Honda City during this period will also receive a one-year vehicle insurance package from the manufacturer.
Furthermore, some Honda City dealerships are providing additional deep discounts to enhance their competitiveness within the segment. Specifically, the Honda City L version is now priced at VND 519 million, a reduction of VND 70 million from the original price of VND 589 million.
Meanwhile, the G version has been discounted by VND 65 million, bringing the new price to VND 494 million. The RS version has a reduced price of VND 549 million after a VND 60 million discount. Depending on the dealership, customers may also receive additional gifts such as vehicle maintenance packages, heat-resistant window tinting, and floor mats.

Similarly, all versions of the Toyota Vios are supported with a 50% reduction in registration fees, along with a 0% interest rate for the first six months of installment payments at dealerships. At this time, customers who purchase the Toyota Vios E MT can save VND 23 million, while the E CVT and G CVT versions offer savings of VND 25 million and VND 27 million, respectively.
After deducting the discount from the selling price, the cost of the Toyota Vios E MT is now VND 435 million, the E CVT is VND 463 million, and the G CVT is VND 518 million. Depending on the dealership, the Toyota Vios may be further reduced by VND 5-10 million in cash, along with complimentary vehicle insurance and genuine accessories.
The best-selling model in this segment, the Hyundai Accent, has also received discounts ranging from VND 9 million to VND 19 million across different versions, bringing the actual selling price down to between VND 430 million and VND 550 million. In addition to cash discounts, dealerships are offering accessory packages that include floor mats, dashcams, steering wheel covers, perfumes, rain umbrellas, and leather document holders.
Mitsubishi Motor Vietnam is also providing promotions for the Attrage model, with discounts of 50% to 100% on registration fees depending on the version. Specifically, the 2023 Attrage MT and CVT versions are offered a 100% exemption on registration fees, equivalent to a savings of VND 38 million to VND 49 million. The remaining versions receive a 50% discount on registration fees.
The Nissan Almera, distributed by Nissan Vietnam, offers a remarkable incentive with a 150% discount on registration fees. Currently, the B-segment sedan is available in two versions: the Almera CVT and the Almera CVT High-end, priced at VND 539 million and VND 595 million, respectively. With this promotion, customers can save between VND 81 million and VND 106 million, depending on the version and the province or city of registration.

In May 2024, the sales volume of B-segment sedans in Vietnam reached only 2,743 units, a 3.3% decrease compared to the previous month. This marks the second consecutive month of decline since March. Cumulatively, in the first five months of 2024, the total sales volume of B-segment sedans in Vietnam reached 13,313 units, a decrease of 4,968 units, or 27.2%, compared to the same period in 2023.
In May 2024, the Hyundai Accent took the lead in the segment with 924 units sold, a 9% increase compared to April (848 units). The cumulative sales of the Accent in the first five months of the year exceeded 4,000 units, outperforming the Vios by nearly 600 units.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Vios dropped to second place, with 766 units sold, a 17% decrease from the previous month. The Mazda2 ranked third with 509 units sold, a growth of 19.2% compared to April (427 units).
The Honda City maintained its position in fourth place, with 303 units sold in May, a 25.2% decrease compared to the previous month. This marks the second consecutive month of declining sales for the Honda City after reaching a peak of 1,043 units sold in March.
