This program is part of a series of activities to celebrate International Cooperative Day and mark the 35th anniversary of Saigon Co.op – The Star of Vietnam’s Cooperatives.
The “Accompanying OCOP – Honoring Vietnamese Agriculture” program takes place across 800 sales points of Saigon Co.op, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, and Finelife from July 4 to 17, with various activities: exhibition, promotion, demand stimulation, product trial, etc. This year also marks the first time that Saigon Co.op brings OCOP products online through its shopping website www.cooponline.vn, where customers can admire and shop for local specialties from across the country.
Currently, Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, and Co.op Food are offering over 500 OCOP products, including items from cooperatives nationwide, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Phu Quoc – Kien Giang, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, and Thai Nguyen. The diverse range of products showcases regional specialties with geographical indications, such as Phu Quoc fish sauce, Tay Ninh rice paper, Can Gio pineapples, Khanh Hoa bird’s nest, Dak Lak butter, Da Lat vegetables, Xuong grapefruit, durian, and various types of green vegetables. The rapid growth of OCOP products in the Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, and Co.op Food systems reflects the successful connection between Saigon Co.op and key economic regions across the country. OCOP products sold in these systems meet the 3-star and 4-star standards, ensuring high-quality goods. Some OCOP items are selected and developed into private label products under the Co.op brand.
Co.opmart and Co.opXtra provide strong support and prioritize prime locations in their supermarkets for OCOP products, along with clear signages and attractive promotions, to facilitate OCOP products’ accessibility to consumers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vo Tran Ngoc, Director of Business at Saigon Co.op, shared, “As a leading cooperative in Vietnam, with a nationwide network of sales points in 43 out of 63 provinces, Saigon Co.op serves as an important bridge, bringing high-quality OCOP products closer to consumers, along with a series of attractive and practical promotions. Saigon Co.op is a pioneer in implementing and materializing the ‘One Commune, One Product’ (OCOP) program for the 2021-2025 period, approved by the Government, with a focus on developing the rural economy by harnessing internal strengths and increasing value, contributing to the development of the rural economy and improving the income of farmers.”
The following are notable promotions to celebrate International Cooperative Day on July 6:
“Celebrating International Cooperative Day – Accompanying OCOP – Vietnamese Supermarket – Honoring Vietnamese Agriculture”: Offering discounts of up to 30% on OCOP products, with prices ranging from VND 7,500 to VND 350,000. This includes Can Gio pineapples dried in the sun once, Viet Cuong vermicelli, Thanh Quoc fish sauce (Phu Quoc), Khai Hoan fish sauce, Dat Butter peanut butter, Huong Sen Viet lotus seed tea, Meet More instant coffee varieties, and ATK coconut coloring. Fresh produce will be on rotation for discounts of 15%, including water spinach, water convolvulus, Chom Chom Thai-like, green grapefruit, green-fleshed pomelo, durian, and Xuong pummelo with golden flesh, type 1. These promotions are valid from now until July 17.
“Celebrating International Cooperative Day – Shopping with Co.op Private Label Products”: For every purchase of VND 500,000 worth of private label products, customers will receive a VND 30,000 voucher. For purchases of VND 1,000,000 and above, customers will receive two VND 30,000 vouchers. This promotion is valid for two days only, July 6 and 7.
In addition, Saigon Co.op organized various lively activities across its system to celebrate International Cooperative Day on July 6, including a blood donation drive that embodies the noble principle of “All for one and one for all.” The program received an enthusiastic response from Saigon Co.op’s employees, resulting in the collection of over 670 units of blood on July 6, 2024.
