Of these, 984 cases have handed over land with a total area of over 244,000 square meters, accounting for nearly 96% of the total area to be handed over.
The implementation of the Investment Project for Construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge in Tien Giang province has affected 1,006 organizations, households, and individuals in Chau Thanh district and My Tho city. Among them, 43 households were affected by the resettlement area and needed to be relocated and cleared. The total area of land that the local authorities had to hand over for the construction of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge was 254,842 square meters.
My Tho city and Chau Thanh district have made efforts to expedite the progress of compensation payment, encouraging households, organizations, and individuals to receive compensation and relocate, thus freeing up the land. Specifically, My Tho city has had 439 out of 444 cases hand over more than 97,000 square meters of land out of the total 98,300 square meters; Chau Thanh district has had 505 out of 519 cases hand over 102,000 square meters out of the total 105,858 square meters. In the resettlement area sub-project for Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, 40 out of 43 affected households have also handed over more than 45,200 square meters out of the total 50,683 square meters.
According to statistics from the Land Fund Development Center (under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tien Giang province), there are still 19 cases that have not received compensation with a total cost of over VND 28 billion, and 22 cases have not yet handed over the land (including the number of households that have not received compensation).
The households that have not received compensation are mostly due to legal procedures, the land user has passed away, and the procedure for issuing a new land use certificate is being carried out; land bought and sold by hand-written papers has not been officially named; households requesting an increase in compensation prices have not yet agreed to receive compensation…
The Compensation, Support, and Resettlement Council of My Tho city and Chau Thanh district are coordinating with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tien Giang province and related units to actively remove difficulties and obstacles to complete compensation, land clearance, and handover to the construction unit. Firstly, the province will soon complete the approval of the funding for compensation, strengthen communication, dialogue, and encourage the remaining households to agree. Tien Giang is also deploying the resettlement area of the project in Phuoc Thanh ward (My Tho city), with a total area of 50,683 square meters and a total investment cost of VND 230 billion according to the estimate, to help affected households soon stabilize their lives in the new place.
