Construction of the Largest Brewery in Southeast Asia in Vung Tau
Last week, the People’s Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province approved the detailed construction planning project at a ratio of 1/500 for a brewery with a capacity of 1.6 billion liters/year in My Xuan A Industrial Park, My Xuan ward, Phu My town.
The total planning area is over 393,000 m2. The project includes main functions such as administrative and service areas; factory and warehouse areas; technical infrastructure area; greenery; transportation and parking lots.
The Heineken brewery in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has been operational since 2017. After several expansion projects, its capacity has increased by more than 36 times in just 5 years, making it the largest brewery in Southeast Asia.
All phases of this project have a total investment of about $540 million. With a new capacity of 1.6 billion liters per year, an increase of 500 million liters from the present, the Heineken brewery in Vung Tau will have twice the capacity of the recently halted plant in Quang Nam.
First Heineken Brewery in Ho Chi Minh City
Heineken started operating in the Vietnamese market in 1991 and simultaneously built a brewery in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, in the same year. This was the company’s first brewery in Vietnam.
Currently, the brewery covers an area of 12.7 hectares, located on Le Van Khuong Street. The Ho Chi Minh City brewery boasts a model that runs on 100% renewable energy. The visitor reception area (called Heineken Experience) uses 100% solar energy. The wastewater treatment area not only ensures that the treated wastewater meets clean and safe standards but also serves as a source of fish farming within the brewery’s premises.
Hanoi Brewery – The Only Heineken Brewery in Northern Vietnam
Established in 1996, the Heineken Vietnam Brewery in Hanoi spans an area of 33 hectares. The products brewed at the Hanoi brewery include Heineken, Tiger, and Bia Viet, all brewed using 100% renewable energy.
Danang Brewery – The Only Heineken Brewery in Central Vietnam
After the halt of operations at the Quang Nam brewery, the Heineken Danang brewery remains the company’s only brewery in Central Vietnam.
The Danang brewery, formerly a joint venture between Societe des Brasseries et Glacieres Internationales (BGI) and Danang Beer-Beverage Company, was established in January 1994. In 1997, BGI was granted permission to transform into a 100% foreign-owned company named Foster’s Danang Co., Ltd.
In 2007, Heineken Vietnam acquired Foster’s Danang in its entirety. The Danang brewery became one of the subsidiary companies of Heineken Vietnam.
Currently, the Danang brewery covers an area of 7.7 hectares, located in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu District, Danang City. The Danang brewery started producing Larue beer in 1995 and Tiger beer in 2011.
The Danang brewery also leads the system of Heineken breweries worldwide in water efficiency. Since 2014, the brewery has been recognized as one of the top 5 water-efficient breweries in the Heineken system, alongside breweries in Portugal, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
Heineken Brewery with the Smallest Area in Vietnam
The Tien Giang brewery, with an area of 6.6 hectares, is located in My Tho Industrial Park, Trung An ward, My Tho city, Tien Giang province.
The Tien Giang brewery is one of the first foreign-invested enterprises in Tien Giang province. It was formerly known as BGI-Tien Giang Joint Venture Company, established in January 1992.
In September 1997, the company was transferred to the Foster’s Beer Group. In April 2007, Foster’s Tien Giang was transferred to Heineken Vietnam Brewery Limited Company. Since then, the Tien Giang brewery has become a member company of Heineken Vietnam.
