In the first half of 2024, nearly 34 million vehicles traveled on the expressways managed by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC)

On July 4th, the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) reported that in the first six months of 2024, the traffic volume on the expressways managed, operated, and exploited by VEC, including Noi Bai – Lao Cai, Cau Gie – Ninh Binh, Danang – Quang Ngai, and Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay, continued to maintain stable growth, with 33.78 million vehicles passing through, a 13.08% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to statistics, the two expressways, Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay and Cau Gie – Ninh Binh, recorded very high traffic volumes (over 11 million vehicles). Among them, surpassing the Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressway, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway reached 11.68 million vehicles, ranking first in traffic volume. This expressway also recorded the most impressive growth among VEC’s expressways in the first half of 2024, with an 18.53% increase compared to 2023.

The remaining two expressways, Noi Bai – Lao Cai and Danang – Quang Ngai, recorded traffic volumes of 9.23 million and 1.4 million vehicles, respectively.

A review showed that the four expressways managed by VEC saw significant reductions in all three criteria for traffic accidents compared to the same period last year, with 19 collisions, two traffic accidents, 39 injuries, and zero fatalities.

VEC assessed that in the first half of the year, the Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressway still experienced minor congestion during holidays and weekends due to localized high traffic volume.
